Calling All Compers, Can You Help with These Queries?

Ask a Question

I have the magazine comps in my saved folder and mostly do them daily. Firstly, when several mags are offering the same prize, is it just one prize over them all or one prize from each mag? I can't imagine the top end prizes can be won several times.

Secondly, i have read somewhere that you cannot enter/win within 6 months of a win.

I won a bottle of perfume from Redonline recently so if the answer to my first point is one prize over all mags does that mean you cannot enter any of those magazines' comps for 6 months?

Good afternoon Lynibis

This might ramble and may or may not satisfy your curiosity but I'll give it a go.

First example.

At the moment there is a comp for a Henry Quick Pet Cordless Stick Vacuum on each of there:- LDP, NOW, Whatsontv, Woman, Womans Own & Womans weekly. If you look at the Ts&Cs it says the following...

This competition is running concurrently on the websites of www.lifedeathprizes.com/, www.celebsnow.co.uk/, www.whatsontv.co.uk/, www.womanmagazine.co.uk/, www.womansown.co.uk/ and www.womansweekly.com/. The winners will be drawn from all the correct entries drawn from all the sites.

This competition opens 25-01-2024 and closes 23:59 22-02-2024.

The promoter of this competition: Clareville Communications

Standard rules apply for details go to www.futureplc.com/competition-rules/

So this particular comp prize is shared across all 6 sites. If you enter on all six sites you will have more chance of winning this single prize.

The six month rule at BAUER

I won some garden furniture worth £500 last summer and have only just resumed entering some of the daily magazine comps - you can't win more than £500 worth in six months at Bauer. There are the specific terms detailing it. You should be ok with perfume as I have always assumed that it's a collective amount so unless the perfume has a value of £500 or more then I would continue to enter.

So that we can ensure fairness of our Competitions we reserve the right to prevent a person to win more than one prize valued at £500 or more via any of our Competitions in any given six (6) month period. For avoidance of doubt this means that an entrant will not be eligible to win any prize if the entrant has in the past six (6) months won a prize valued at £500 or more. We reserve the right to disqualify your mobile phone number from future Competitions during this period.

It’s ok to enter Bauer competitions during your six month ban, as long as they have a closing date AFTER your six month ban ends!

I believe the radio stations also have specific terms as follows:-

If you win a single prize worth £500 or more, you can’t win another prize worth any value for the following six months (starting from the date you won the prize). So if you’re entering a promotion such as Kissmas where you specify the value of the prize you want, keeping it under £500 might be your best bet! And if you are lucky enough to win a high value prize with Bauer, remember that their T&Cs affect a huge range of brands (see www.bauermedia.co.uk/brands) – so if you win a holiday on Magic FM, don’t go entering Absolute’s web comp to win £1000 the following month. You can enter to win multiple prizes valued at less than £500 – it’s only when you win a biggie that the 6 month ban comes into force!

I hope this helps and that I haven't confused you

Some of my info has been clarified by Di Coke who is a mine of comping information. Here is a link to her page about restrictions as there is more info than I have added.

tumblespots I don't know what to say, thank you so much for your splendid informative reply, I will keep it for future reference. But at least I now know it is worth entering all sites rather than just one. The perfume was about £58 so I can continue entering as last mag comp win was well over a year ago. Thank you again.💐

Lynibis It is definitely better to enter on all of them as it gives you more chance.

I forgot to say congratulations on the perfume, I hope it was a pleasantly fragrant scent 👍

Good luck with all your entries 🤞

tumblespots I can't remember it's name, something Mimosa but tbh I didn't really like it but it was gratefully received by son and D in Law as it seemed to me a rather unisex fragrance. Good luck to you too.

T is spot on L, she beat me to it answering you

To be honest i never bother with daily entry competitions, they take up so much time , unless it is a good prize like a holiday or something valuable

Saying that i did win one daily competition for a week away in a holiday lodge in Scotland once , so some are worth entering

telmel thank you. Actually the comps are a lot quicker these days, answer, submit, confirm and next comp with no tedious waiting inbetween. Also, at the moment there are fewer (well I only enter ones I like) so I whizz through them with my morning coffee.

Lynibis Some are a bit long winded L, like the ones that give you an extra entry if you post it on facebook or other social media platform , but you don't have to do that

Also those pesky prove you are real captions , sometimes you spend more time trying to get them right than time spent entering your details
