Alternatives To McDonalds Burgers Please

Ask a Question

Any tips on a good supermarket burger? Would rather fresh than frozen but not fussed.

We buy frozen from Sainsburys but that’s just because you get more and are cheaper. My mum used to buy fresh burgers from the chiller in Sainsburys but you only get 2. They are nice ones but you have to pay a bit for them.

PhilipMarc I don't support baby killers and rapists, so McDonald's and Starbucks are off my list

I've always found ALDI burgers to be nice; especially the wagu ones but I'm not sure if they're seasonal or sold all year round. I haven't eaten from McDonalds for a long time and I don't miss it at all; you can make a much nicer burger at home.

MartinBluck I think that I might take your advice. I bought burger presses a long time ago, but never used them. I'm going to have to stop being so lazy

Leannexxx BURGER UPDATE......

I have ordered the ingredients to make burgers on Thursday. I have all the seasoning here, so it was just the baps and 20% fat beef mince. Anything with a lower fat content makes them too dry imo

I find pretty much all the burgers the same at supermarkets that are sold prepacked in the chill cabinet. They are typically 4 quarter pounders for £2.50 give or take. When I really fancy a burger I go for one of those. Last time I bought some they were short life and £1.50 a pack and they went straight in the freezer. Some time back Tesco were doing a huge reduction on beef mince so bought a lot of that for chilli's etc and also made some burger patties by binding it together with egg yolk and added a little bit of finely chopped onion. I would say they were nicer than the pre-done burgers but certainly weren't as uniform in shape.

Buying the ingredients and making it at home is a lot more rewarding and you can make it whichever way you want.

Thing is, buying at BK, KFC, etc is because it's quicker and on the go.

Go to Morrisons and fill a salad tray with everything you like, far healthier than a burger 😂

McDonald's has brought back the Big Mac with 4 burgers/patties, but morally I just don't feel like buying from them. Just sad. 😕

I do quite like it.

If you have a Hungry Horse nearby they are doing some £5 deals of which some are burgers which ends in February sometime. That is of course a sit down meal. I have to say I've never tried their burgers as far as I can remember but have had the fish and chips, new yorker and curry that is offered in this deal. I always ask for just water to go with the meal. I had their fish and chips yesterday which was very nice. However the quality of Hungry Horse does vary. Chips are always lovely though.
