I really don’t want to do the whole prescription medicines, I have friends that have them and they told me they feel like they have a hangover

ClaireRudyj the ones I had prescribed made me so thirsty and sluggish that I don’t take them. Try and cope as best you can with the lack of sleep, big hugs to you.

There are so many options available, I think its a case of trial and error to find what works for you. If you find nothing helps then I would make a doctors appointment and keep going back till you get it sorted.

There's so many different things you could try help you get better sleep it's hard to know where to start not knowing your personal circumstances.

Cutting out Caffeine would be worth considering, or just not having it the afternoon / evening.

Exercising more - depending on what you do currently, even just a walk in the fresh air might help.

Sleep sprays can be a helpful tool to help you nod off, as well as mindful apps that help guide you off to sleep.

Probably best to see your doctor if you try a few different things and nothing works.

I don’t drink caffeine, but I might try the walk in a evening and try the sleep sprays.

Creating a bedtime routine may help. For starters, decide what time you will wind down and stop using devices, including your TV (the blue light they emit has been proven to negatively impact sleep). Meditation and a herbal sleep tea may also help. Good luck 😃

I would absolutely love to go to bed and the next thing that happens is I wake and its morning, I have had an awful sleep pattern for years, most nights I just lie awake all night, currently trying mindfullness but find I loose concentration very quickly so not sure it's for me. My Mum suffered with insomnia for years and paced the floorboards most nights, I'm following in her footsteps. Just wish there was some miracle pill available.

Maybe try working out if anything in particular is keeping you awake. Stress, pain or depression are often a big part of it, but also simply worrying than you won't get enough sleep

Dont over Indulge In food or the wrong food as your body will work overtime. Try having a hot bath just before bed. Get up early and you will soon be tired at the right time. Just Ideas. I am no expert as I work nights and on my days off I am like a Hamster on Its ball through the night. I have done nights since forever so my body clock Is back to front unfortunately.

I wear thick tights and a cotton t-shirt under my nightshirt. I don't wake up until my alarm clock goes off the next morning. I also use a 15 togs duvet (and a blanket if it is really cold).

I have found that as I've got older that I need a lot less sleep. We need to sleep in 5 hours cycle to achieve best results. I find an additional 30 minutes power nap in the afternoon helpful

I've not been sleeping well lately. I've used earplugs the last couple of nights and I think they really helped, I slept through last night and woke up this morning feeling as if I'd had a really good deep sleep.
