Car Insurance haggling for a great discount

Well, that dreaded time of year when i receive my insurance renewal quote. Lots of news about the soaring cost lately but thought i would do an online comparison and i found 2 quotes from my own insurance company significantly less, so decided to phone them.

I made sure i was very polite and friendly and long story short........i got it down from £367 to £271. Kerching! I would advise all to do the same, you never know.

My insurance has just been renewed. I went onto a comparison site but none of the offers were cheaper than the one from my current supplier. It went up by £20 but I have a different car so it was actually still a really good price.

MrsCraig that's good, at least you didn't get a nasty surprise. The price I got for £367 was same as last year so really happy that they reduced it so much.

Lynibis that is an excellent reduction. Mine is £224 this year, the other offers were all more than that so made sense to stay with them. I've bartered before with car insurance but never got a £90 discount.

MrsCraig Do you think overall that car insurance is cheaper in Scotland than in England?

Lynibis I'm not sure to be honest. I know that when we loved in the central belt our car insurance was more expensive than it is now that we are in a smaller area. I think it depends on a number of things but location definitely plays a part.
