Do You Still Celebrate Your Birthday?

Do you still celebrate your Birthday?
I heard someone say recently that they don't see a need to celebrate now they are older which sparked a discussion in our friend group, with most agreeing.
I don’t like being the centre of attention so hated having birthdays. I’m happy just going out for meal.
SamGoodship yes or another couple of friends. I don’t like big parties I had a big 40th and 21st but never again!
I love celebrating my birthday, The only birthday that's better than my one is God's son's. I think that one's brilliant because Jesus has a birthday and we get all the presents. LOL
My partner and I always go away on our birthdays rather than have all the fuss at home. Family and friends are used to it now.
I don’t really as i don’t really see the point in waiting till my birthday to treat myself. If there’s something i want to do around the time of my birthday i may do it for my birthday but if there’s nothing i fancy i’m happy doing nothing
Yes, 59 this Friday, booked all weekend off, partner off too, Student Radiographer Daughter home last week to take me out for a meal & bake my birthday cake but she was too ill, I told her it didn't matter, I will celebrate in June with her when she's home, I just want her to relax & take it easy.
Partner & I are hoping to do something Friday , weather doesn't look too promising..
Saturday, I'm hoping to celebrate with my friends on a night out..
Sunday If not too tired from my night out I will join my close friend at Mass then in the afternoon Partner & I are booked in for a Caribbean meal so looking forward to that
Monday would have been my late Mum's 95th birthday so during my celebrations over the weekend I will be laying flowers for her & my late brother who would have turned 61 on May 6th..
Then I'm back at work Monday til Tuesday morning...
Since our son was born I don't bother with my birthday. Mine is 2 days after his, so I don't see the point anymore. I was never big on celebrating it anyway so I'm not missing anything. I always make my parents a special dinner when it is their birthday and get them presents but that is enough for them, they don't celebrate theirs either. Although we did through Granny a casual party this year which our son loved so think we will have to do that for his other Grandparents too.
MrsCraig Fair enough! My daughter loves birthdays and would be sad if we didn't celebrate it much, she insists me and her dad get banners and balloons and a cake
I really only make a big deal of the large 0 numbers otherwise it’s just a meal on the closest weekend rather than on the day. My boss gets really annoyed when his doesn’t fall on a weekend or tie in with Easter bank holidays, it doesn’t matter to me if I’m working on it or not
SamGoodship no, never had a party or birthday cake as a kid or teenager, I spent alot of years in the care system, I was passed around the foster care system like a parcel
I always go away for my birthday and this year is no different, all booked to go on a cruise end of November for my birthday in December.
We have a meal out for birthdays, unfortunately my family are all in January and February I’d rather big birthdays (my son and I both turn a respectable 21 and 40 within 12 days of each other in 2026) we may have a party or two to celebrate with family and friends or a go away on a holiday to celebrate. Nothing decided for the big ones!
We husband and son and I usually just have meals out, whether it be an expensive place or a pub.
This year for my birthday we went to miller and carter (had a gift voucher for Xmas so used that towards it) and it was a lovely meal expensive but it’s a once in a blue moon meal.
Celebrated with my long term partner with a nice late lunch in Tideswell then a walk at Tideswell Dale on my birthday 24th May. Bought a nice Pizza, Garlic Chiabatta in Bradwell & a small cake on way home in Sheffield for a late Dinner..
Not really, we have a takeaway and a wee cake for the sake of my son. But not really any need I don’t think
