Have You Changed Where You Shop?
Ask a Question
Have you changed where you shop in the last year to save money?
I try to go to Aldi more now which is easier as I moved home last year and now have one close by.
I used to always go to Sainsbury's and sometimes Tesco. However, now that Aldi has opened up nearby I go there to buy most of my fruit and veg, cereals, bread and some store cupboard items and the other two stores for anything I can't find. Not only is it easier to travel to, the store itself is pleasant to shop at and staff are nice and helpful which is great. Prices are competitive too.
We changed where we shopped a few years ago now. We shop in Lidl and Aldi. We go to Tesco or Asda for the rare item we can't get in Lidl or Aldi. I have stopped buying certain items to save money. We've always been careful with money but I am even more so now.
No I’ve not changed my supermarket just changed my buys, now I pick own brands on quite a few things but not coffee or tea.
I changed to aldi a few years ago and always go to Tesco for the ‘brands’ that we can’t do without. I now buy more and more from tesco as aldi just isn’t as cheap as it was
I've been shopping at Tesco for over 30 years I still get most of my shopping there. Also go to home bargains for a few things.
I started to shop at Aldi quite a few years ago and still happy with their products and quality.
Asda was our go to supermarket, we don't go now, we shop at aldi, Asda's prices are insane.....
martinlufc5637 I disagree with you. Aldi products is dearer than Asda and Tesco. Aldi own branded soup - Beef & Vegetables contains 8% beef compared to Tesco Chunky Beef & Vegetable soup containing 13% beef.
jam45 we have 9 mouths to feed , Aldi saves us £35 a week compared to Asda, never shopped at tesco
Yes. I go to tesco but now started going to M&S because the taste is extremely good and price also affordable. I feel worth going there
Although their stock is more limited than the other major supermarkets what Aldi do sell is good quality and cheaper to buy so I now shop there more frequently
No as can't travel nowadays actually have to but local ,very dear or online with easy delivery Amazon and Ocado mostly ,so sadly miss the discounters used to go to along with all the big supermarkets
I have an Aldi ten minutes walking distance from my home and an Iceland store 5 minutes walking distance from my home. This morning I needed milk and went to Aldi first. Their milk date was use by 11 January compared to Iceland use by 19 January. This is not the first time I am having problems with Aldi. Their fresh fruits and vegetables (especially the grapes, tomatoes, bananas) is not edible. Luckily I have several branches of Asda nearby by using various buses to get proper fruits and vegetables. My favourite shop to buy them is at Sainsburys, a 45 minutes bus journey, which I am not prepared to travel to more than once a month.
Family usually go to Sainsbury’s for a big shop for groceries as we collect nectar points and then go to Aldi for top ups lol
And we go to other shops too and mostly buy reduce foods on sales
We have been doing this for so many years now
We usually get deliveries from Tesco, but if there's lots of offers at a different supermarket, we sometimes use Asda or Sainsbury's.
I have no loyalty to any supermarket and tend to keep swapping all the time depending on which shop has sent me money off vouchers. I pretty much only go to Lidl's when there is a £5 off voucher etc. I try to use vouchers as much as possible. I also take my mother shopping who lives nearby so if she has a voucher we share the savings there and if I have a voucher she shares my savings. Sometimes required as the voucher could be a high amount like £12 off £70 and I couldn't get to £70 myself with my shopping. That also doubles the chance of having a voucher to use.
My nearest supermarket is Aldi but I find the quality/value very hit and miss for example a recent tinned tuna purchase was extremely low quality fish in the tin with dark meat and mainly broken up into flakes with some small sections of solid tuna but sold as tuna rather than tuna flakes. I will use them for small shops typically less than £20 but mostly sub £10. However bear in mind I'm walking home from the town centre so have to carry what I buy although only a five minute walk up the hill home to my mother's house where I typically stop off and a further 3 minutes to my house. There are never vouchers for Aldi and some of their stuff nowadays is more expensive than other supermarkets. I don't really drink alcohol and I don't eat a lot of meat either and generally find Aldi quite poor a supermarket. I notice people that pick up a lot of alcohol in Aldi sometimes so maybe a great supermarket for alcoholics. In Yeovil my favourite supermarket is Tesco as its huge with great choice and always lots of offers plus an extensive value range. The store is often packed though its extremely busy a lot of the time. I think even their value ranges are more consistently decent quality in my experience.
I have always tended to shop around but only if I’m close to a certain shop. My main supermarket is Waitrose but also use Tesco for top up shop.
Tbh I always used to visit the cheaper supermarkets and discounts stores anyway. I have changed what products i buy and how much i buy though
