Charlotte Dujardin Expelled from Olympics for Horse Whipping.

In the News

I am the first to say we have gone too far down the road of snowflake mentality these days, but seeing the video of this woman whipping a horse that was obviously distressed and couldnt get away from her made me seethe.

I am so glad someone blew the whistle and her dreams of olympic glory are now over.

Good riddance to her. It's horrible how we take control of animals lives and think we can just torture them if we so desire. However animals suffer a lot worse than this in test labs for cosmetics and people are happy to buy those products. I'm sure many of those animals would jump at the chance to be whipped rather than the ordeal they go through there with vivisection etc. Throughout this site you see a huge amount of products developed by companies that horrifically experiment on animals. I'm sure this site has helped sell a huge amount of such cosmetics which has financed much of this animal torture. Many of us actively promote this site which I guess makes us indirectly responsible for some of this torture.

BonzoBanana I am certainly not making excuses but I think most people disconnect from animal experiments when buying the end product. However watching this woman whip a horse 24 times is in your face and it has received many comments from the public, I believe all have been incandescent with rage.

Lynibis Lots of people enjoy the suffering of animals, its the way their brain is wired up. You see many nature documentaries where its full of animal suffering and many enjoy seeing horses fall at the grand national for example. I'm definitely not in that camp but many people have a sadistic streak.

BonzoBanana yes and many enjoy causing and watching fellow humans (including children) suffer.

martinlufc5637 yes I agree. She has said it was uncharacteristic but if it was it would only have been a tap or two, not 24 lashes.

Lynibis that's not uncharacteristic 24 lashes, probably their culture and how they train the horses, same a race horse scandals regards whipping them in training

Leannexxx well she says 4 years but the whistle blower says 2.5 years. She was too scared to say anything earlier and apparently she has had loads of criticism already, good on her I say.

I deplore cruelty to animals but I'm some sort of hypocrite because I still eat them.

MelissaLee1 I guess that applies to many of us. But I do believe animals, like us, were put here for a reason. Some to supplement our food and some to help humans in other ways. Horses have been our friends and transport for centuries until cars etc. They should not be harmed by us. I remember reading Black Beauty as a child and crying buckets.

If she couldn't control her horse without whipping the bejesus out of it then she wasn't qualified to be an Olympian in the first place.

EmmaWright762 In this instance she was training a person who was on the horse and she was whipping the horse's rump and legs, which makes it even worse. The horse was kicking his back legs and obviously in distress and although face wasn't clear she seemed a nasty piece.

I saw this on the news earlier today, it was awful to watch her whipping the horse and seeing the horse in distress, she is one nasty lady.

TiaTia yes and I truly can't believe it was a one off time, if she truly didn't usually use a whip why would she use it 24 times in one session?

I think this is a lot more common than we realise sadly. I think to a lot of people within the equestrian world horses are just the tools of their trade. I remember some champion trainer got in trouble a year or two back for sitting on a dead horse.

jms19 one has to wonder about the mindset of people like that, just glad the horse was past any suffering.

I watched the video and thought someone needs to do that to her and see how she likes it. The horse was clearly in distress. She whipped the horse 24 times in one minute, that says to me that she has anger issues.

Perhaps she should be whipped several times. See how she likes it. Like others I do not buy that was a "one off".
