Cheap Meal Ideas for Children
Other
I have two boys aged 2 & 5 my 2 year old goes to nursery and has hit lunches, my 5 year old goes to school and has a cold packed lunch (there's no hot meals available at his school) looking for cheap meal ideas for them throughout week. Weekends they eat Sunday roast /Saturday meals with us!
Thanks in advance
It really depends on whether your children are fussy eaters but tbh the cheapest but also fairly nutritious meal would be something like jacket potatoes with baked beans on top. Spaghetti Bolognese is another good one you can all enjoy and any left over can be frozen and used again, also good on jacket potato. You can hide various veg (mushrooms and onions) in Bolognese sauce if you chop it very finely and they won't even realise! Besides which, it will bulk it out.
A Spanish omelette is good if they like eggs and again you can put in veg and leftovers; ham, onion, peas and cooked potatoes fried before adding the eggs.
I get a casserole pack for £1 which has swede, carrots, parsnip and onion in it. I also get a pack of chicken mini fillets for about £4.40 which contains 14/16 pieces and children that age would only need 1. Make a slow cooker casserole and serve with a dollop of mash. I won't go on or people will give up the will to live!
