Royal Mail accepts £3.57bn take over from Czech billionaire Daniel Kretzinsky. Do you think think it should change it's name from Royal Mail now? Royal Mail rather makes us think of UK Royalty so surely it should be renamed to remove any confusion or should the name stay to link it with its origins?
Personally I don't mind what it's called as long as service is good. I don't believe millionaires who are not British citizens should be allowed to buy up our utilities and services. It never ends well and why would they care about us as they are not charities, they just want to make money out of us, probably to enrich their own countries and also get away with tax loopholes and the like.
Lynibis I am disappointed in another British business selling out to the highest bidder. Why hasn't the Post Office union staff not protesting about this takeover? When I worked there years ago the slightest "problem" had the union staff huffing and the management were scare of offending the union staff. Or is the present Postal staff well paid with perks?
They might have accepted his offer, but the government has to ratify it, and that might not happen.
When I read Royal Mail it just makes me think of the official postal service of Britain.
Kinda like USPS is of America, Correos of Spain, CTT of Portugal, and so on.
Royal Mail was already a private company. The Czech billionaire is buying it from International Distributions Services (Parcelforce and GLS Group)
Royal Mail has been a private company since 2013. The Government hasn't had shares in it since 2015. Royal Mail was founded by Charles II so I think the name should stay to link with its history as a company.
