Chimney Sweep Logs

Ask a Question

I saw these today and wondered if anyone has ever used them? Are they any good? We get our chimney swept properly every couple of years.

Mick82 that's where I saw them today. Will be hard to judge too, as not as if you can see what they do / don't clean 🤷‍♀️

My husband bought some brushes years ago so does our chimney annually. He decided to do it himself after the sweep retired.

Pjran we looked at brushes recently, but thought we might end up making a complete mess in the living room!

FG280 Stick a bin bag to the fire opener. Cut it to push the brush through have the vacuum cleaner handy and hey presto it’s simple.

Pjran I just realised that we have drain rods, which apparently are the same as chimney brushes. Will definitely give this a go!

My dad cleans his chimney himself and he covers the fire with plastic and has a small hole for the rods to go through and has hardly any mess as it’s contained behind the plastic but if you give it a go take your time and be careful not to push the cover of your chimney pot

FG280 definitely but the benefit of doing it yourself means that you can do it more frequently so there will be less mess in the long run and you will save money to

tara73ziva that's what I'm thinking, try it and if we can, get into the habit of doing it regularly!
