Is it Justified to Leave an Inheritance to Neglected Pets Instead of Family?

Ask a Question

This is not the first time an elderly pet owner has left all their money to their pets instead of their family

In this case this Chinese lady decided to do just that because her family ignored her most of her life

Unfortunately you cannot leave your inheritance to pets by law there , so they are trying to circumnavigate this by leaving it to a vetinary clinic who will supervise the care of her pets

Do you think it is ethical to ignore your family in preferance to your pets ?

Those pets need to hire this attorney:

🤣

But seriously, that's a stupid thing she did at least it should have been given to a vet to take care of them (premium food and all that for that much).

Leave it to an animal charity- including your own pets yes why not. Sadly i have seen so many people not bother with their older relatives whilst they are alive but then circle like vultures when the person passes away.

I think I would rather spend it myself though !

suevernon1968 I suppose it depends on the family and the situation S , i would just worry who was administrating the inheritance and how much they might be taking before it reached the recipient

Whilst it’s a nice sentiment I think it is pretty bad when there is so many people starving. Personally I’d look after a relative’s pets for free if they got ill or died. I’m sure she could have found someone to look after them for like 50k or something

Animal charity, yes, and I think her family is jealous and just wants her money

Jackscot People can get pretty wild when it comes to inheritances so none of them getting might've been better. No violence or death for who gets to keep it.

Wouldn't be surprised if some family members come out of the woodwork try to get their hands on it doesn't matter they probably never bothered with her in years

Fantastic thing to do, l don't speak to my only living family...Mother & Sister, both took, took took from me, l walked away years ago and have no contact at all with either and never will, animals don't have a voice as such and are so loving...

Pinkspirit I watched a film last night called 'dogman', it shows the love a person can have for animals and vice versa

A little weird but i thought it was brilliant and would recommend it

It has a little violence in it but nothing too extreme as in horror movies

I have posted the link , if it is allowed , if it is removed you can search for it , its from 2023

No. But if family ignored her, I get why she wouldn't give them an inheritance. Pets are like family to many people so we shouldn't be surprised when this happens 🐶🙀

Depends what your family are like. Not everyone has a good family who supports them in life. And pets are family! I think it is your money and you should be able to leave it to whom ever you wish.

I personally don't see why lack of problem solving intelligence or language intelligence means an animal is inferior it can still have full emotional intelligence. I can imagine a situation where I wanted to give my inheritence to my pets for their care rather than relatives. Ultimately it really annoys me when someone's last wishes before they die isn't granted. They have accumulated their wealth and it should be a 100% their decision where it goes as long as they are of sound mind. Lets face it some relatives are awful people who just happen to be your relatives you didn't choose those people and their characters may not be nice. Why should you leave money to a horrible son, daughter or other relative. What if you had a neighbour who has helped you hugely for years and you never see your relatives surely that person is a much better person to give money to.
