How about the classic monopoly or some of the other card games suitable for kids...I would have suggested the normal deck card games but the rules might be hard to learn at first.

May not be your bag but I began playing scrabble with my granddaughter before she was at school and she is now studying for her PhD in English. It is an excellent underhand way of them learning words and spelling. Ludo is a good game too.

I was just going to suggest Ludo too (age doesn't give an advantage)- I also used to like Scrabble. I might add darts... it helps with mental arithmetic. (but not with paintwork)

Monopoly

Risk

Snakes and Ladders

Board games have kinda died because of video games and that people don't socialize that much anymore.

I'd have to say Frustration; fun, gets everyone involved and competitive (in my experienced opinion lol). Monopoly's great but a tad too long for those with shorter attention spans.
