Should the Cinema Be Cheaper?

Should the Cinema be cheaper?
With this Saturday being Nation Cinema Day and chain dropping their prices to £4 each, is it time to re evaluate how expensive they are the rest of the time?
Our local Vue has all recliner seats now and charge £6.99 per seat all week which I don't think is bad . Mind you food and drink is still ridiculous prices.
One of the cinemas in a town not far has big squishy sofas and arm chairs £5 per seat, 2 back row sofas are waitress served with drinks at £15 per sofa, it's a great little cinema
but at the same time cinemas are still closing - so its hard to expect them to reduce prices much more.
It’s national cinema day on Saturday so you can check your local cinema to see if on there and should cost you only £4
I didnt even know that it was National Cinema Day and prices were dropping, thats a nice bargain for some! I understand why they are expensive now, they just cant compete with streaming platforms but it would be a shame to see them go. COVID probably hasnt helped either.
Course yeah especially when you're going to see a few of your favourite movies and even when you join for special offers it's still expensive.
Everything is expensive now wherever you go
I love the cinema and would go on a regular basis however due to how expensive it is I find myself waiting for the movie to come on netflix. I think all cinemas should do a reduced fee on the last Saturday of every months so that people can have the opportunity of a night out. Its a win win situation. The cinema would be packed and people would get a night out
Some cinemas you can get tickets for £5 or below but the larger major cinemas are the ones where you can get them for around £20 a ticket which I do find steep. I think anything £3-£9 is reasonable. Thinking about the staff they usually have: security, ticket office, keeping the facilities clean etc. I've seen some awful mess left behind from some people; they leave their popcorn over the floor (some can't be helped) but then they leave all their drinks bottles, sweet wrappers etc. If we all played a part and took our rubbish out of the screens with us and people left the toilets cleaner - I don't know what some people do in public loos, but I don't blame some companies not wanting to have to deal with cleaning toilets, do they treat their toilet at home the same way?
I think some cinemas need to remove the 'no food or drink consumed that isn't bought from their rule' if they have it. If people were aware they can take their own food and drink, I know myself included, I might be likely to go more often. If their food on the premises were cheaper, they might actually make more money because people would be more likely to buy it.
There are lots of factors that would make sense to change up in the cinema front.
I've heard Everyman Cinemas are good, they often do free sessions, yes older films but I think that is fantastic. Sadly my nearest one is around an hour away.
I've never really been a massive fan of the cinema myself, it takes me awhile to get used to the surroundings. But I'd love to go more for my partner who loves movies.
Of course it should be cheaper but i think a lot of cinemas themselves are struggling to make ends meet. Every time i go by a cinema it seems to be a lot more empty than it used to be.
