What Do You Class as a Roast Dinner?

Ask a Question

Would you not class it as a roast if a certain item wasn't in it? I got looked at like id killed someone when earlier i put down roast chicken, roast potatoes, stuffing, mixed veg,Yorkshire puddings n gravy. Normally i do pigs in blankets, mash potato, puff pastry as well as the rest but i was rushed and i sat down to vacant staring faces. Followed by where's the other bits? Apparently i didn't cook a roast as the other bits weren't there. I was shocked by their attitudes.

Most of the time I only do roast chicken and roast potatoes and veg. People should be happy you took the trouble to cook what you did already.... I bet you were shocked.

OMG that's shocking. A roast dinner in our house is half that amount lol. Normally we do, chicken, gravy, roast potato's, roast carrots, broccoli and Yorkshire pudding never do pigs in blankets apart from Christmas, don't do stuffing as no one likes it. Tell them to cook it themselves next time!!!

sarahtwinmom they made their own pizzas n chips so it wasn't so bad x they still seem bewildered at the fact i wash dishes in my eldests words," who does that mum u can get a machine to do it"😂😂 so they will be washing them up tonight n tomorrow as i told them I'll cook n u can all wash up x so I've made homemade soup, lasagne, chips, salad, garlic bread n brownies n left them every pot n dish to wash up x 😂😂

tinakittyjay this thread has made me laugh, seems all kids are the same!! I have twin boys and they think we have little fairies to pick up after them, and cook and clean. They also think i run a cafe rather than just cooking dinner can always guarantee one doesn't like what 'im preparing!! Love the fact you have left them the pots and pans to wash up lol lol

I am intrigued by the puff pastry bit.....what's that all about? I wouldn't do mashed potato with roast dinner, nor pigs in blankets unless it was Christmas or Easter.what you served is exactly the same as I would do for a roast dinner.

My gran used to do puff pastry as my grandpa hated Yorkshire pudding x i think it just looks big because one doesn't like roast potatoes so i do mash as well x so i dont get" i dont like that",when i sit down to eat x i just do everything everyone likes and i end up with a big roast but I'm on strike x let's see them cook tonight x😂😂

To us a the Sunday roast is the one where we have all the trimmings Yorkshire, Roasties, Roast Parsnips etc .

Mid week usually Meat , Potatoes & 2 Veg, and if we are lucky a few frozen Yorkshires ( thou don't raelly rate them anyway.
