Compers: how often do you win?
Competitions
Hi all,
I have to confess - whilst an avid bargain hunter I've not yet got properly into the world of comping.
I was just wondering how successful you all are? How many competitions do you enter compared to the number of times you win?
I'm guessing entering all the competitions can be quite time consuming? If you have any ideas (however crazy or far-fetched they might be) as to things that would improve your comping experience please comment here. You never know, I might have a mad scientist moment and be able to add them to LD
You need to start comping Tom! A very lucrative hobby. I split my time between simple prize draws and Retweets with the effort comps (photos, quizzes, postcards, on-pack promotions etc) and win 2 or 3 prizes every week.
most comps i have seen only require you to enter your detals email etc and possibly answer one question
Gotta be in it to win it is my motto tho think I might have borrowed the phrase lol , enter a couple a day whalst waiting around for kids ect, stedy flow of wins from makeup, trampoline passes, posh candles, gift vouchers ect x

Brilliant. I wouldn't mind a holiday prize
natkitt20000 what do you think of our new competitions site? Any feedback or suggestions?
I don't win often, but when I do it's a good'un. I, unlike others don't enter for everything and anything because if I were to win something I didn't want - I wouldn't be happy, I'd be quite annoyed. Should check out my profile on here for my bio ;)
I don't win very often, but when I do it's nearly always a "biggie" last one was a trip to LA including flights, top class hotel, and £250 spending money
I do well from them. My cooker, TV, washing machine and coffee maker are all comp wins. Best win for me personally was a 5 star trip to London with Hotel, Afternoon tea at the Ritz, VIP mamma mia musical tickets, meal and £1500 Selfridges vouchers but although not for me personally the best by far was 2 years ago when I persuaded my friend to enter as many as she could for things for her wedding and she won a £25k wedding and honeymoon.
You do have to be careful what you are entering but I don't find the spam too bad but I use a separate email for entering them which is probably the best tip I would give anyone or you will find your personal Email filling up very fast every day.
I enter a fair few and win occasionally. I've won recipe books, food and pet supplies mostly. I did also win some rugby balls a few years ago which I gave to my friend's kids. If it isn't something I want I don't bother to enter.
As for tips, I'd recommend entering local competitions rather than larger ones. Less people tend to enter those. Some local radio station competitions for example regularly only have 5-10 entrants, so your chances are pretty high.
I enter competitions that I really want to win. Some are beauty, household goods, food, entertainment and travel of course. Over the years I have won vouchers, products and tickets to some great experiences. My biggest win was for £100 wagamamas vouchers from a comp advertised on their till receipt. Other wins have included trials to test new household and beauty products which is always a giggle taking photos and writing up reports. Plus I have won tickets to attractions such as the London Eye, the Shard, exhibitions, events and cinema screenings. It's a bit of fun and a great hobby.
I think only won one of the LD comp Degusta box. And some hardworking creative comps...needed to work for the result...I think most of the places like names or not. If you have a nice name they will choose you.
I enter lots of competitions everyday! On average I win between 2-4 prizes a month and they vary from skincare, make up, household items, clothes, pet supplies. I only enter the competitions that I would want to win. It is time consuming entering them all, but it is a hobby that I enjoy doing. I really like the competitions section on latest deals.
I won a holiday to Malta and tickets to a rave recently. I think that has to be my best win to date. I think my partner and I will be the oldest ravers in town!!!
Perfume and a purse, Lipstick and skincare products. Looking forward to them arriving! I also have some make up on the way from a prize I won about 10 days ago.
AgnesFaludi Maybe! I tend to find that I am luckiest on social media competitions. I enter loads but I find I win the most on facebook, twitter and instagram!
Just won a free football kickabout session, a free gym day pass and a free lucozade water bottle by downloading the lucozade app. I've had a pretty lucky week. not amazing prizes but still cheered me up.
Here's a question. Do you think it hampers you chances if you don't subscribe to the newsletter or other services? I suppose it depends how they pick the winner but im sure they would be reluctant to give s prize to someone who cant be bothered to receive a weekly email
Most winners are picked at random from the names of those who have entered the competition. If you are subscribed to the newsletter then your name will be recognised by the machine they use to pick the winner but it doesn't give you any more of a chance as it is totally random.
