Would You Consider Retiring Abroad?

Ask a Question

Couple retire to Egypt and now live in luxury for fraction of the price www.mirror.co.uk/money/couple-retire-egypt-now-live-32304470

I’m a few years off retiring as a nurse , and at this rate the country’s going I’ll be older than the patients I’m looking after 😜

I’d love to retire somewhere nice and hot and cheap , would you ??

MelissaLee1 I remember you posted a picture of it a year or two ago M, it looked very nice

Did you have any problems with getting any repairs done there ?

I believe the Bulgarians and Rumanians are very good tradesmen and do excellent work

Its a lovely country and one i would consider moving to if i had the chance

I am seriously considering moving abroad. My husband and I retired early. We are looking to move. But we really need to think is moving abroad for us. Lots of pluses but also lots of worries.

eyeballkerry Years ago, Malta was where everyone over 60 from the UK went to live for up to 6 months per year until the Tories or was the Council Tax reduction put a stop to them staying in Malta for so long. Back then everyone told my parents, etc how dirt cheap everything was. Bus fare the maximum price was 20 cents (Maltese currency) per journey. Food and drinks a quarter of what you paid for in the UK. I read recently that Malta has over 3 million visitors per year.

I’d love to retire abroad, the weather is this country does get me down quite a lot. Not sure I’d fancy Egypt though as it can be unstable at times i think

I would definitely retire somewhere nice and hot (Egypt isn't for me though)! Has to be good value and ideally by the coast 😃

Yes I would love to but at this rate I might be dead before I can retire if they keep upping the age of retirement

Yes I would. Wouldn't retire to somewhere like Egypt. Would retire somewhere like France or Spain.

It's probably something that I would like to do and hope for a better lifestyle but would miss my family too much.

I tried moving from Essex to Wiltshire and came home as it was too much travelling for me and loved ones to do. So definitely not abroad, I couldn't bear not seeing them regularly. My sister moved to Spain with her 3rd hubby and managed only 2 years for same reason.

Yes I would. I was extremely proud of my British residence years ago. However over the last few years I'm sorry to say that my belief in what is best for this country has faded. Having supposed powerful people continuely disgracing themselves, or the discovery of corruption, manipulation and disrespect for the people they are supposed to respect, so my respect for them has dwindled away. We have an extremely antiquated judiciary service, living in their protected homes shielded from the world they are creating. All our services are in negative equity as governments have abused the pots set to protect us.

Would love too! But preferably in Europe so it’s easier to see family , especially as you get older. And would prefer a country with good politics if that’s a thing 😂

Abroad? Perhaps. Egypt? No.

I've lived abroad in a number of different countries. Having all-round freedom, equity, respect, safety and security, and quality of life are definitely mandatory.

Despite how tempting abroad looks I would never want to be abroad no more than a few days.

Prefer here UK is the best place for me
