Do you struggle with the cost of paying for a care home for your loved one?
Apparently, the average cost for one is a WHOPPING £32,000 a year.

The costs have rocketed in our area with a minimum of £1500 per week, extortionate. A few years ago, pre pandemic, the government were looking into a max of £85k charged over someones lifetime.
Pjran How does anyone possible justify charging £1500 a week? Are they sleeping in a four poster bed and feasting on lobster and caviar? It's preposterous.
I think we all worry about long term care, if we are going to need it and if... Then how on earth we are going to fund it
Yeah it's expensive, my wife's grandma went into one because of dementia, it took all her savings
I gave up work to care for hubby at home and will probably do the same for mum. When my turn comes around I'll probably just go and lie out on the grass under the sky if it's summer lol.Care homes have become an industry more than a byproduct of a caring society.Carers are paid diddly while managers rake in thousands. There was a time when families could afford to have someone at home to look after someone else.Nowdays the whole family need to be in employment just to keep head above water.
Mum in law has dementia and is in one via social services but she still has to make contributions out of her pension. I don’t know how much it is. Sister in law is PoA. My own parents are now in their 80s and have managed to stay in their own home.
