Is Your Council Doing Enough about Potholes?

Ask a Question

Is your council doing enough to fix potholes?

We have so many just on our road alone, and people are ending up with repairs needed on their cars. The Council do come every so often and patch a few (not all of them on the road though) but as soon as it gets cold it freezes, then breaks up again. Really, the whole road needs to be resurfaced.

Short answer is no, councils don't do enough of anything in my opinion, despite the hike in council tax every year

Nope. Some of the roads by me are shocking. Massive holes in them

There's no money to repair roads properly, many councils are facing bankruptcy. My council is probably going to up the council rate cost by 10% as well as massively reduce services. They have debts of 825 million and servicing those debts is 32 million a year. It's just the economic madness of the last 40 years now catching up with us.

No. There are so many of them. I often have to swerve to avoid one. That can make driving very dangerous let alone damage to the car.

My council is not bothered. Our road is full of pot holes, and the foot path is no better

Safe to say my answer will be the same as everyone else. When we have any form of election for about 2 months before the election they do the worse 1s but the repairs are of such a poor standard the pothole will be back within weeks.

It's a terrible thing when the councils are paying out more money to people who have suffered damage to their vehicles than they do spending money on doing a proper job on the repairs.

No - there are so many where i live i dont know why they bother with speed bumps- the pot holes do a brilliant job of slowing the traffic down

suevernon1968 Totally agree with you here. We have so many and trying to avoid them is a nightmare, no way of speeding traffic round our roads, every cloud.

The potholes in our area are shocking, hardly any work is done repairing them.

Definitely a big NO NO because last night a pot hole punctured my left tyre on my car so I got to get It fixed now after leaving It In the compound at work and grabbing a lift off my friend to go home. I highly doubt It If I put a claim In I would get anything from them. I am not even going to try. They are so quick enough to grab your Council Tax from you and If YOU dont pay, you`ll get a Bailiff at your door.

No, No and No, when my local council does repair a pot hole it's a make shift job that invariably returns a few weeks later.

Not at all! Japan gets entire roads fixed in a day and we have pot holes for years

There seems to be a lot of potholes around at the moment but I haven’t seen any being filled in at all which is strange as they have done in previous years.
