An app that tracks the symptoms of Covid-19 in the UK has become one of the most popular downloads.
Its creators aim to deliver insights into why some people get the disease more severely than others.
They also hope to create a map showing where outbreaks are happening and help distinguish cases from those of the common cold.
I know that for many, it will give them a peace of mind
Have you downloaded it? Will you download it?
Nope and nope!
My phone is already straining under the weight of its apps and poor memory all these TSR programs suck memory like nobodies business (TSR - Terminate And Stay Resident) old machine code programming technique to make sure you cant kill the application and stop it running it sits there and consumes memory until your phone just locks up - i have found this with all those Acneilsen, Incompass and survey apps they are the worst for killing your phone!
Besides it wont work on Blackberry or any of my Nokia Lumias as they are all windows 8 phones.
And i have more sense than money to buy an Iphoney or Ifannypad!
no thanks. I think it may even make people panic more, constantly checking the app for updates. Just another way to keep tabs on people
I'm not planning to download this app. If I live in a Covid-19 hotspot, which is possible in London, I'd rather not know about it. I still have to go out to buy food or possibly visit the chemist at some point. Constantly, worrying/ dwelling on the outbreak isn't going to lower my chances of catching it
Nope! Everywhere I turn there’s mention of it. No positivity now. It sickens me it’s taken something like this for people to recognise how dirty they were previously!
This app seems genuine but typically many apps are developed purely for financial gain and the idea that they are designed to help is just marketing b*llshit. I've seen diet apps which have advertising on the screen for their income and some have shown restaurants and takeaways at times which to me is wrong.
I know what you mean. And at times like this, it does feel cheeky that they’re going to financially gain from it, especially when there’s loads of people who will be out of work. But none of these companies do it solely out of the goodness of their hearts/intentions, as they do need to make money and survive in the long run. As long as they’re trying to help, it may be mutually beneficial
I have downloaded it, all it asks of you is to update it daily. It asks have you been tested for Covid-19 and if you are feeling okay or showing any symptoms.
Thanks for the feedback. I guess it’s a good way to monitor the general public, the ones who are not contacting the authorities
