Crafty Student Jailed after Abusing KFC App Glitch
In the News
Just read an article about a student in China who ordered the equivalent of £6,500 worth of free food after discovering a glitch on KFC’s online ordering system.
He was eventually jailed and fined but, wow, that’s some amount of Family Feast buckets
Surely if it the fault of the company then he was acting under the company's own rules so it was their fault! Morally wrong, of course.
tumblespots i agree. Its the company’s fault for not checking their systems for issues. The coupon should have been removed when he used it the first time but it didnt so to be honest anyone would carry on using it and sharing it with friends if it never went away!
MsLamboLova12 I hope they also imprisoned the company directors for allowing him to do it for so long....
MsLamboLova12 No. They are allowed to let it happen but aren't responsible for anything! Company bosses never are...
Don’t we find glitches on this site ? Then order from that when we find one ? So are we morally bad ?
I’ve not read the article. But if the company made a mistake then how has he broken the law?
Sounds like it’s kfc fault.
Good job our legal system doesn't work like that we would all be in jail for getting glitches. I hate to think what would happen to Tom for setting this up
Absolutely ridiculous why should he be jailed for the company’s mistake? I’m baffled. I think he should go down on the hall of fame for pulling off so much free KFC not jailed
He abused a glitch so it's only fair he gets punished for it.
Yes, the app was broken, but he knowingly knew what he was doing was wrong. He thought perhaps he'd not be found.
PhilipMarc hope you’ve never bought stuff on here that’s had a glitch. I have !
I don’t think he broke the law. It was a system fault on KFC computer. Surely a glitch isn’t a prisonable offence well not in the uk. I think the uk need to focus on benefit fraud.
He shouldnt have been jailed !! Its KFCs fault for the glitch. In fact I think he should be rewarded for finding it
I dont think he should have been jailed, at the end of the day it was a glitch, kfc's problem!
They take things like that seriously out there. I don’t think he should be jailed, but obviously they wanted to make an example out of him
They were jailed for 2 years for this. Come on! Its just the big companies and the system working together just to make a point that even if they mess up, you shouldn't exploit them.
