Crunchy Cheddar Cheese. Where Can I Get It?
Ask a Question
Hi LD'ers. Back in the day, I used to buy the Seriously Strong brand of extra mature cheddar and there were crunchy crystals in it. Unfortunately, as the brand got popular, their cheeses got poorer and poorer and now it tastes like a generic run of the mill one.
I have come across a couple of similar 'crunchy' cheddar in the past, but that was a while ago and none seem available now
Recently, I was suckered in to buying an extra mature 'crunch' cheddar at an extortionate price from Morrisons, but it was just like a normal Pilgrims Choice one.
Does anyone know where I could buy some crunchy cheese, if you know what I'm talking about?
Davistow vintage is quite crunchy.
Lidl used to do an excellent vintage that had crunch in a black wrapper, but I've not seen that in forever
I know what you mean about the Seriously Strong brand it use to be my favourite too. I now buy Barbers (in Sainsbury’s under their Taste the Difference range) although it is crumbly which can be a pain at times. It’s the closest I can find for strongest in taste like seriously strong used to be.
I found this online TC, sounds good

Oh my days telmel, I've been looking for a decent cheese shop online and Pong not only looks good, but it sells crunchy cheddar too!
SisterofChimp is coming over from the US for Xmas and wants a cheese board for Xmas day. She's one who likes very good food and the only place that I can buy from in the area is Tesco or Morrisons.
I am going to talk to MrsChimp about buying from Pong, but I think that I've already made the decision.
Thanks again.
