Is Cucumber and Peanut Butter a Good Combo in a Sandwich ?

Other

Ok, it is not the most exciting ingredient to put in a sandwich

But it is calorie free and very good for you , it's cucumber

But to make it taste more palatable this article is suggesting you add peanut butter

I like peanut butter but i am not sure how it tastes with cucumber ?

The only thing i tend to add to it is a little salt and vinegar on a salad

What is your take on peanut butter sandwiches and cucumber or can you suggest an alternative ?

Sounds like some of Mrs Cropley's creative cooking from the Vicar of Dibley.

MelissaLee1 You could have a bit of Frank Pickle with the cucumber then M😀

Sounds pretty awful to me. I like cucumber sandwiches on their own with just a reasonable amount of butter and perhaps a little pepper and a pinch of salt. However bread, butter and peanut butter are all high calorie foods. It's like wrapping lettuce leaves around a bar of lard, it just seems like a poor combination if you are trying to watch calories. Calories are a confusing definition too. You could have the same number of calories in a portion of complex carbs compared to simple carbs (i.e. processed food) and the first you lose weight with and the other you gain weight despite the calories being measured the same. The body struggles to get much energy from complex carbs and often they feed your bacteria more than you where as simple carbs are very easy for the body to use as fuel, often containing processed sugars, fats and proteins the body can very easily fuel itself from those as there is little fibre to process and you have types of food all combined in an un-natural way.

BonzoBanana Like you say peanut butter contains calories and they recommend you don’t have more than 2 tablespoons a day. It full of protein but not calorie free.

Sounds awful to me. Try a low calorie cheese spread instead of peanut butter. If you’re counting the calories then isn’t peanut butter high?

I couldn’t think of anything more disgusting 🤢. I hate cucumber and I hate peanut butter. So my answer is a big fat no! Peanut butter has calories though. I’ll stick with roast chicken and sweetcorn.

It is not the sort of thing I would choose to eat, but if I were on some sort of game show and had to eat it I would do it.

I would eat it as I I am a vegetarian.I would restrict the bread to two small

brown slices and use no extra sugar added peanut butter. This would be an occasional treat.

martinlufc5637 Interesting fact M, cucumber technically is a fruit and not a vegetable as it has seeds

But we always find it in the vegetable section regardless 😃

I like cucumber, I already think it tastes great. I would add it to a ham sandwich or tuna but I certainly wouldn't put peanut butter with it. I like peanut butter but don't eat it often. I will stick to my cucumber just on its own.

Interesting that they say cucumber is unpalatable as I’d happily eat a cucumber sandwich, but cucumber and peanut butter doesn’t sound great

I love this - I quite often have the marmite peanut butter with cucumber, or just add my own Wiltshire farm Firemite to the peanut butter and cucumber. Another good combo is Peanut butter and sliced banana.
