Should Dads Get Better Support?

Ask a Question

Should dads be supported better after the birth of their child?

Campaigners are saying dads should be given more help saying that a lot of them 'cant afford' to take the two weeks paternity leave.

No, there are already too many demands on tax payers money and it is time people took responsibility for the children they have. My generation managed without all the perks of today and I was worse off than some as my ex was in the Navy and away for 10 months at a time while I coped at home, and I did, very well.

Lynibis Times are very different now though, and I don't think you can compare it to the past when times should always be getting better and improving for people. Otherwise it ends up being ;'we struggled so you should too'

SamGoodship I do agree but at the moment we are billions in debt and can't keep giving handouts. The problem is that when govt introduce a new benefit it is usually given to rich and poor alike, so again rich get richer, poor get poorer. A good example is winter heating for pensioners, which many don't need.

Wow never too old to learn. I didn’t realise our nation falls behind fathers paternity leave than other European nations. Shame on us.
