Deliver Parcels to Your Home Address or a Store?

Ask a Question

Delivering packages to stores seems like a great idea these days, customers have more privacy if they don't wish the buyer to know their home address and it'll be there held until it's picked up. Furthermore, if it's from a marketplace like Vinted it's actually cheaper than home delivery.

I've seen videos of packages being stolen and that saddened me. People who do it really have no shame or respect for others.

It seems to be the way of the world now P unfortunately

This seems a good idea to put the thieves off , but i would add a red dye to explode over them

If you opt for store collection it's a good idea to check where businesses keep packages before ordering. I once got a package delivered to a local shop that I hadn't been in before. They just kept packages on a top shelve in the main part of the store. Within easy reach of anyone who entered the premises.

With Amazon I usually send packages to one of their self-service lockers.

ACR That is admittedly the case with the store I go to collect my InPost/Yodel packages, but they're in the back (they don't have much space just to use for parcels) so only those who enter the store know about it. I could change, but I like going there to drop/pick my orders as they're really nice folks.

My daughter sells a lot through Vinted and we have to use the delivery lockers. It’s easier to send as all postage has been sorted out but we have go further to get to the lockers. The other day the man was collecting the parcels and throwing each one from a distance into his van. He then dropped his scanner!

I have my parcels delivered to my home. They leave them in a secure box right underneath two security cameras with their own lights. There is no way those theives are going to go unnoticed here as I also have a beagle who will bark at the drop of a leaf lol Image

I always go for click and collect whenever I can. I don't particularly like listening out for the door and I can also collect the parcel in my own good time.

I try to get mine delivered to a locker. As another poster said before, I found the nearest shop didn't really have space to store them and after an incident where I was told to throw a parcel I was sending in a pile on the middle of the shop floor it put me off!

Always try to get my parcels delivered to a locker or local store, I can pick them up when it's convenient to me then .

If I don’t reach the free delivery threshold with what I’m purchasing. I then opt for delivery to store if there is one local. I do agree it’s safer as guaranteed won’t get stolen.

I get my stuff delivered to my place of work, if I'm not there one of my colleagues are and will deal with it. It's a lot more convenient for me this way

I always get mine delivered to a locker if I can, not for privacy just for convienence for me. The locker is a 5 minute walk at the end of my road and I'm not always in to take parcels due to work so having to collect them from the post office was annoying.

I prefer delivery straight to my front door except if I’m ordering something small from Amazon then I choose free delivery to the local post office.

I actually got scammed by someone using the store pick up. The delivery driver never actually took the parcel into my allocated store they just took a photo outside of it.

DPD considered this delivered even though it wasn’t. I complained but they said i would have to open a civil case vs the shop (even though the shop never got the parcel in the first place). I questioned why a photo outside of a shop would be considered valid proof when my item isn’t there and also why they weren’t really concerned one of their drivers is committing fraud.

Again they just said that i had to take a civil case, i would have done it except the item was worth £30 and the civil case would have cost £35.

It seems delivery drivers are checking what is in some parcels and if they are lower priced items, they are taking them. The delivery companies don’t seem to care about this at all though

jms19 DPD? That's surprising. I thought it'd be an Evri or Yodel driver who'd do that.

Speaking of Yodel, I don't trust them to do home deliveries, but for store deliveries they get the job done, thankfully.
