Death of Superhero Movies, Hopefully!

In the News

The last couple of Superhero movies have flopped so I am praying we finally will start getting movie meaningful films.

I was all for super hero movies having grown up with Batman and Superman. But I am sick and tired of this constant churning out of sequel Superhero junk. Will Hollywood finally start to make more regular films again?

Leannexxx I loved superhero movies growing up. There just werent enough. Then aboiut 15 years ago, perhaps with Ironman they just began churning them out and it got boring for me. MAINLY these darn sequels did it for me. ALL things in moderation🤣 DC is better though.... GO BATMAN

I must admit I agree with you but tbh I find it very difficult to find a film I will enjoy watching these days. My taste is very specific and I can't stand films that are way over the top violent or sexualised.

As a youngster these are the kin dof reaction older people had and now I think we are at that stage... maybe....

As a kid I wanted more superhero movies but now I'm no longer interested in them and don't even bother with them at all. I just avoid them nowadays. I'm more into science fiction movies that are proper science fiction stories with some basis in science even if very exaggerated. Movies come in phases so hopefully superhero movies are getting boring for more people and less will be made. It's like fashion it keeps changing and that keeps people interested. Movies need to do that too.

I can't think of any great movies in the last few years although there has been some very good movies.

BonzoBanana I must admit I am more into films with something to say and serious matters: Dark Waters, Legends of the Fall, The King, Gladiator, although I do like the odd revenge movie as long as the violence is not OTT.

I agree as well, when the trend properly kicked in (Iron man 1) i was exited but it’s got too much. The formula is always the same and the end of the film almost always just sets up the next one.

The only "Superhero" movies I want to watch this year are Joker and Deadpool.

I only watched Spider-Man: No Way Home because of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Alfred Molina, and Willem Dafoe. What about the main cast and the main Spider-Man? Nah, don't care and don't like him (Tom Holland).

Tom Holland also kind of ruined the Uncharted movie, but in that case the movie was a disaster no matter what and only by the final 40 mins it's when it started getting good.

PaxAmerica The Batman: Part 2 should be really good, I just hope they keep the anti-White racism off the movie. I'm tired of that crap.

On Part 1, Catwoman had this line:

"All anyone cares about in this place are these white, privileged a-holes."

And then she proceeded to kiss Batman, who, uh, is White.

Probably not death, but I would be happy if they took an extended break. (Aside from Batman films - which are usually well received and successful at the box office). Although, the problem extends beyond superhero films. Most large budget Hollywood films aren't very original. Even before you've started watching something, it's usually easy to predict how stories will develop and conclude.

I'm a true fan of superhero movies but there really is a definite case of superhero fatigue.

For marvel I'd be amazed if someone says the films or TV series were on a par with endgame and infinity war movies.

If Marvel had ended at endgame and had a good 2 year minimum break before going in a different direction it wouldn't be anywhere near as much apathy to them.

I made the mistake of watching The Flash a few weeks ago and the biggest compliment I can give to it is its 2 hours of a movie which I have consigned to losing 2 hours of my life.

stuartsmith544 That guy (Ezra Miller) who played The Flash creeps me out so I didn't even bother watching it, but there are scenes which are worth watching alone for Michael Keaton's Batman.

There's other stuff he's done, this is just one.
