Difficult to Source Competitions Recently
Other
Are you finding it hard to post comps lately? I think there are many reasons for this and one is possibly the extra points recently introduced.
Also many are turning to social media and I am sure I am not the only one who doesn't use it, despite having fb and insta accounts.
I would say 50% of the ones I try to post are already posted. Have already touched on comp complaints before but did one this morning where it only required name and email, not even agreeing to terms was needed but as soon as I submitted it said 'thanks for subscribing'. I hate that sneaky way of getting you to subscribe.
Even though I post quite a few comps I also find sourcing them far more difficult than ever before. I was wondering whether it would help for LD to let us post the regional comps even though they have resisted allowing this in the past siting the reason that the site wouldn't have the capacity for them. Now that there are less of the normal/usual comps perhaps now is the time to make that change?
tumblespots I agree. Personally I don't see the difference between some that are allowed and some that aren't. If a comp is open to all then as adults surely we should know whether we are prepared to travel or even pay for an overnight stay. It would still make for a cheaper outing.
Lynibis I have put it to the powers that be in the past and they haven't wanted to allow it but I think that times have changed....
tumblespots I have always felt a separate section for paid/purchase comps would be good.
I posted one the other day which indicated free entry with extra if you had bought their product. It was deleted but I see it has been posted today so I reported with my explanation but just received notification it was a wrong report. Couldn't care less about 5 points I just get annoyed when this sort of thing happens.
Lynibis I agree, there are a few sections missing, paid for comps being one of them. I am not sure if they are working in some kind of time warp because I've noticed that the reporting at the weekends isn't nearly as effective as weekday reporting (and that is sometimes suspect). I often have to send in a email on mondays repeating the weekend post reporting.
All we want is reports to be acted upon promptly, fairly and uniformly across the board but we aren't at that point yet and it is frustrating
tumblespots I don't bother any more, I just let them remove the deal/comp and then search for another. Today I nearly said a very bad word when, after posting a deal, I got a msg that it didn't meet guidelines for the title and the usual blurb that goes with it. I had put Marlborough Bed but fair dos I didn't put 'bed frame' so I edited it and put 'Marlborough bed frame, chocolate colour' and the moment i clicked up popped the same message again. I corrected the heading again to Marlborough Bed Frame but for a third time it was not acceptable so i gave up and lost the points. Not sure what I could have put to make it acceptable.
Conversely two comps today have no matching image, one doesn't even say how long the holiday is in t&c, but they remain.
As you say, reviewing is not fair or uniform and it is, after all, Sunday!
Lynibis I can well believe what you say, perhaps it's the word marlborough being cigarette related? I once changed the title about eight times before getting something accepted, it's ludicrous.
When I make a report I usually also put it in my 'save for later' so that I can see when it has been actioned but I get so fed up with things just staying in there and not being done that now, to save my sanity, I leave it for just one day and then delete it.
I can't say I have noticed the mismatches but then I only look closely if I want to enter them.
I hope you had a good birthday.
Try and enjoy the rest of your day today
tumblespots that's the trouble with a generic msg, it doesn't tell you what you've done wrong lol. Someone clicked it 3 times though
Lynibis I have commented on this in the past, the messages aren't specific enough...
I stopped posting facebook , twitter and instagram competitions quite a while ago as some were getting rejected as not genuine, which is a possibilty as they are so easy to scam
But there will come a time when all will probably be via social media, they are increasing all the time , then it will be more difficult to find genuine competitions
Another case for rejecting is not having a photo of the prize, some competitions don't
I try a google search for the prize item if i can but had those rejected sometimes also
Its a shame as some prizes are excellent, just missing a picture
I also get pipped at the post sometimes, i expect others are when i am there first, its just par for the course i suppose
I did try to start posting competitions recently but i found it was more hassle than it was worth as I couldn’t find many.
jms19 probably because you're a sensible person who doesn't subscribe to zillions of emails. Many come from those and often a random one: like today I had the Bury St. Edmunds email and there was a comp hidden towards the bottom. I didn't post it as you had to take a picture of your pooch in the town.
I haven't been entering that many comps recently never mind posting them on here. I've found I need to be in the right mindset to sit and enter them. I've been concentrating on my surveys instead.
jam45 You need to be persistent to win competitions J
I think i have won in excess of £20,000 worth of prizes over the years and thats not including a car i won many years ago in a drum draw where i worked
You could purchase as many tickets as you wanted , some people had thousands , i had only bought one 10p ticket and won the car, i think it upset a few people at the time
Nearly every day now I am getting posts removed. Today it is 3 comps saying I have been pipped to the post. What I don't understand is: I always post the actual page the entry form is on and it is usually the only page that can be posted. It is clicked on from an email and once it pops up there is no other page, so why am I not getting the whoops msg? It drives me nuts!
(I do realise that some comps are explained on one page and entry form on another so it will happen sometimes)
emmabeckz yes I take your point and will try to do so but it's almost like beat the clock these days, trying to beat other members to the post. I just wonder why LD mechanisms don't bring up whoops when you post a duplicate url, but hey it is what it is and it can't be helped I suppose.
Here we go again! One of my comps this morning has been removed because I was 'pipped to the post'. That's fine because it has already been posted as an Instagram comp. However, it made me think that I cannot be the only one out of 3 million members who does not use social media....at all. When I enter on here I filter to website and email comps only. This means that if it is posted on socials first those of us who don't enter by that route can potentially miss out on lots of comps. (and vice versa) I realise that posting on each medium would mean lots of points but maybe only the first posted could get them and instead of the pipped msg just: this has already been posted so no points will be awarded.
