Does Taking Part in Competitions Really Work?
Competitions
I have participated in many competitions online. But I have never won or heard back from any of the competitions. So I really have this doubt.
I feel your pain I have been entering for approximately 2 years now I went through a phase of 200 a day and still not won anything to this day. Not sure what I'm doing wrong to be honest.
I have not won anything since March 2018 before that I won 5 books, two tea towels, 1 milkshake shaker and a few other things. Been entering competitions as long as you
I'm surprised you didn't see any wins entering that many- guess it depends what you were entering? I'm not entering as much as 200 daily by a long way at the moment but I win fairly frequently. They're mostly all fairly low value prizes though; books, dvds etc.
Well, you will rarely hear back if you haven't won unless they are replying to all entrants with a lure like 10/20% off future purchases. Also how many do you enter? I would say aim for at least 300 per week and some people do more than 100 per day.
It was about 8 months in before I began winning because at the start the closing dates were a month or two ahead so I had to catch up if you like.
What annoys me is that there are people who actually pay other people to sit all day and enter comps for them. I am not sure how they do it but I think it is very unfair.
zerocenturyzero i won a game of thrones raven calligraphy set, some tights/socks, concert tickets for Gillingham dockyard, a set of kids books, a word bandit game, a me time goody box full of lotions and potions, an Empire magazine subscription and a Spider-Man comp from chat and spin radio which I have not yet received and beginning to doubt that I will! However, the best prize was won on Heart radio site......2k of vouchers for Dreams and a year of bedtime reading.
archanat thank you I feel a bit guilty with many saying they don't win. I had recently had a new bed so spent half on new wardrobes and gave the remaining vouchers to my 2 sons.
I've won a few competitions before. Three on Facebook and one on another site. I won a Bachelor's supernoodles competition which had an iKettle, fork, noodles, noodle pots and other things in, I also won a competition for a Stanley Fatmax drill and two VIP tickets to Hickstead. I won two bottles of head and shoulders shampoo on Supersavvyme site too but that's pretty much it over the last few years.
Reckon women are more successful than men simply because they are more likely to use certain prizes? Not implying there is any statistics I'm just querying if that is a good theory
I've wondered this also with a specific gender being considered more target audience. I enter a lot of competitions for power tools; we're renovating a house and they would come in very useful but it's almost all exclusively men that win. When the entrants are visible (like in facebook/twitter comps) it doesn't seem like it's mostly men that enter.
SuzJ If your theory is correct it might be worth trying a gender neutral first name - LESLIE is a good one - before anyone says that is just the male spelling... Leslie Ash spells her name that way.
davidstockport yes and I stupidly called my first son Leigh, not realising it was the female version. At the time we lived in Lee on Solent so I wanted it to be different.
I might be wrong but competitions that don't require a purchase or any real effort to enter, draw far too many entrants, so the chances of winning are even slimmer than those that do require purchase or some real thought.
Most, from what I gather, are just an inexpensive way of acquiring mailing lists.
ive been entering competitions for 12 years now. I win more on twitter than anywhere else. If i have time and do loads i can win around 3 or 4 prizes a week.
It does seem strange how some people win loads but others nothing. But good luck to you, it certainly makes the time spent entering more worthwhile.
I have won a number of competitions. I used to enter around 200 a day and would win roughly one a month, some months I won 4, it varied. I haven't won any for a while now but I haven't been entering that many recently as I no longer have time to enter them. I entered as I enjoyed doing it and it was a way to fill my free time. I have saved loads of money from my comp wins so that was another bonus for me. Keep entering as you can't win if you don't enter
I've won loads and I don't enter every day. Last year I won a villa stay in Spain, Apple watch,
Love2Shop vouchers, designer watches, travel accessories,£100 online food voucher, a meal and some toys for my granddaughter for Xmas.
archanat some days I don't do any, a couple of days in early December I did around 180 a day. But I find I win more with referral comps.
I win occasionally 2 bikes 2 coats earphones 2 watches stain remover, love entering have been doing it for years, I also earn loads of money sending in pictures of my cat and tips to magazines like chat and love it I'm guaranteed 25 per week the most ive won is 175 in 1 week
I used to win in the days when you had to use your intelligence and come up with catchphrases etc but now its just facrbook and email address and to be honest i think 90% of them are just clickbait!
But i still give them a go.
