I can’t see a link to read the whole report. Were they a dangerous breed or have rabies?

I don't know enough about this, but it sounds awful and the comment of 'It was after this point that police firearms officers destroyed the two dogs at the scene, a spokesman said.' you would never use the term destroyed for a human being - no they shot and killed (hopefully for the dog's sake, quick and painlessly) 😔

The ITV report that telmel posted said a lady was attacked by A dog, and she didn't need hospital treatment. The most important part here is that implies one dog, which should have been investigated further, I'm sure they could have managed to detain the dog safely somehow. One dog is reported yet two get shot.

There must be more to it or it is completely wrong in my eyes.

This is so heartbreaking, I can't bring myself to watch any of the videos available.

If anyone was wondering they were reported to be dangerous dogs; Marshall (3 years old) and Millions (9 months old) were brothers from the same parents, both American Staffordshire Terriers. From what I can see from photos and the text, they growled at another dog in the street and they supposedly 'mauled' a lady, but she didn't need hospital treatment, which makes me question the use of the word mauled. Steps should have been taken before just shooting them, it would have been the owner's responsibility to have taken steps, sadly by using muzzles IF they were needed. But from what I can see they were on leads most of the time, so the owner should have had some control over them.

I am absolutely not blaming the owner, dogs or the person that got attacked. I don't know much information of the alleged attack.

No matter the circumstances it is very upsetting and I hope Marshall and Millions didn't suffer and are at peace - goodnight pooches, still so young too 😔

I don't have enough facts to state a definitive opinion BUT but some police are trigger happy - it's been proven time and time again.

Very sad to see this. But unfortunately, the dogs are not treated as living being with rights…treatment not limited to dogs

Such a shame to see this happen but imo it’s very hard to comment on the incident without seeing it myself. Police officers have to make a split second decision so it’s difficult for them and there’s the pressure of if they don’t do the right thing and someone gets bitten etc.

The police tasered an 11 year old kid, but to be fair, in that instance they had every right since he was wielding a knife.

However, here the dogs appear to be no danger to the cops so they just killed them unfairly?

And yikes Tower Hamlets, I read that's not a good part of London.
