Are Electric Cars Worth The Money?

Does anyone drive electric? There are competitions to win vehicles but they are electric. Infrastructure is improving but having your own charging point installed surely goes on electric bill? I’m a petrol driver and only drive locally so know what I’m spending. Not sure what the difference would be.
Of course the charging will go on your electric bill and that's on top of the install of the point.
You say that the infrastructure is improving, but nowhere near quickly enough if government targets are to be met.
I still want to know how they are going to dispose of the batteries because you can't recycle them 
I don't believe electric cars are more green or at least not the ones we currently have where the battery packs are a huge fire and explosion risk. I personally believe being green is using your existing vehicle for as long as possible but using it as little as possible and walking, cycling or using public transport instead. If your some moronic politician who thinks they have the right to buy a new car every 3 years then you can make a strong case for electric cars over ICE cars but buying a new car every 3 years is really what we need to stop doing.

JLouM 20 years is an absolutely fantastic amount of time to have a car and use the same item. So many nowadays are replacing their cars every 2-3 years and many cars due to their complexity are uneconomic to repair sometimes after only 4 or 5 years. We should all be aiming for about 7 years of ownership as a minimum I think. However of course some cars are unreliable and have major problems relatively quickly in life and 7 years would be a stretch. 7 years of easy ownership means the right choice of vehicle too. Basically not a performance model with an overly complex design.
No infa structure anywhere near us, the odd petrol station has a charging point and that's it
I would love an electric car just for the quiet interior but the cost is huge and no guarantee on how long the batteries last is an issue.
A lot of people are saying they wont buy an electric car until more ‘quick charging’ points are available.
