Do You Get Enough Holiday Time?
Ask a Question
Do you think you get enough time off over Christmas and New year?
Do you feel like you don't get enough? or would you rather work?
With my job right now I get two days off. Christmas Day & Boxing Day. With some of my previous jobs I was getting Two Weeks off. I would rather be home then go to work.
I would love to get away…but so would everyone else, which is the main issue (prices to get away are higher, it‘s busier, and the planes and trains are more likely to strike, etc.). I’ll go away in Jan when the festivities are over
SamGoodship most likely the far east, somewhere hot and sunny, so I can top up on my vitamin D
I was working for my daughter in her pub on the understanding I could have time off when I needed it. This started ok but then i was doing more hours and being told I couldn’t have days off. So I quit. Now all the time is my own.
eyeballkerry I can imagine working with family could have that effect? It's why I have chosen not to in the past, I think it would ruin the realtionship I had with them
We get the standard bank holidays, and many take the few days between Christmas and New year as annual leave. As long as we have enough cover for essential work we are fairly flexible. I actually enjoy working this period as it tends to be quieter and more relaxed. Good time to catch up on things.
Used to work in an office hated working in between though we didn't do much work and often would drink at work. Work in education now. So am off. Its nice to be off
I'm in education so I'm off for 2 weeks over the Christmas holidays. It's nice because I get to relax and spend more time with family.
I'm a live-in carer so l never get any holiday time off at all, l like to be busy, l always have, lve never been able to sit still even when l was younger and had a nine to five job and got five weeks holiday a year, sunbathing on a beach bored me although l wanted a tan l wanted to leave my skin there and go off a wandering. (Yep!!, I'm definitely weird)
I managed to put holidays in for right over Christmas and new year this year, great to spend the time with my kids but not looking like it will fall this way in future. I at least like to have christmas - new year off with them to enjoy their new presents.
