Have You Ever Had a Problem with Travel Insurance Paying Out?

Seems that even if you take out travel insurance , they can still not pay out. I always worry when I or family go abroad that if there’s ever a problem , travel insurance will cover it.
Have you ever had a problem ?
Yes when my daughter went to Thailand she was mugged. The police were corrupt and wouldn’t make a report until she paid them. The insurance company wanted evidence of stolen items, I didn’t have receipts so eventually got a pittance.
We had a fire in our room years ago, it took 5 years to get paid out, even though all the evidence of an electrical issue cause the fire, they didn't want to pay, we go with the post office now, never any problems
Not personally but I have friends who have had issues. Pretty annoying that they do this especially when it’s a very clear cut case
I had an issue recently - had to buy an extra set of tickets (on chartered flights) due to unexpected illness of a parent. I was told that 'no show' would potentially allow me to claim insurance. But it didn't.... apparently.
I got my passport, driving licence and credit card stolen on holiday. I had to stay 2 extra nights and make my way to the nearest British consulate to get a replacement. The insurance company only paid out £150 for the stolen documents but would not pay any of the costs associated with the extended stay, my flight back or even a replacement passport and driving living when I got home. Shocking!! Always treble check the small print
