Facebook Group FAQ

LatestDeals.co.uk has a Facebook Group with over 180,000 members. It is free to join and anyone can take part.

It is called the Latest Deals, Extreme Couponing and Bargains Group.

To join the group, visit the link above and press Join Group. Your application will then be reviewed.

The Facebook group has different rules to our website. Below, you can read our guidelines for the Facebook group:

  • Why has my post or comment not been published?
  • Why have I been removed from the group?
  • Why am I unable to post on the group?

😱 Ask yourself... Did I...?

  • Post a freebie in our deals group (post it in our freebie group instead: ldeals.uk/lfs-group)
  • Post a request for a discount code
  • Self-promote
  • Post a promo code
  • Post a referral code or link
  • Post an affiliate link
  • Private Message another member
  • Criticise another member
  • Get in an argument
  • Shame another member's purchase
  • Post anything negative
  • Facebook Live
  • Post a competition link
  • Post a deal to a cheap product of low value
  • Post a deal to a low quality item
  • Post a charity donation request
  • ... More (read below)

✅ If yes to any of the above, it breaks our group rules and zero-tolerance policy (and you may be banned without warning).

⛔ If no, there are other reasons why your post may not be published. Please read the reasons below.

This is an FAQ about our Facebook Group

Please read this if you're wondering why your post has not been published or deleted.

Every day our volunteer moderators sift through hundreds of posts and member requests. Every single one is manually reviewed. This takes time and we are unable to respond to individual posts to explain why it was not published.

Please do not write to our volunteer moderators on their personal Facebook accounts. If you have a question, you can share it here in the comments below.

Why was my post or comment not published?

Image

The rules of the Facebook Group

There are more reasons why your post may have been deleted and not published. They include:

We just have too many

We receive hundreds of posts every day. Our volunteer mentors sift through them and try to post a balanced range of messages. It may simply be that on the day you shared it, there was already a large queue. If you feel your deal should have been posted, feel free to post it again.

Quality

The Latest Deals & Free Stuff Group seeks to be a place of useful and practical advice for saving money. We're looking for discussions which are helpful. We want quality not quantity.

Photos

We love to see your freebies, yellow sticker hauls and glitch success stories. However, we only post a selection of what we receive. This is because we do not want to fill our members' Facebook Newsfeeds with hundreds of photos. Again, we're looking for quality discussion.

Your photos should have a helpful explanation of how you got it and preferably with a link to the deal if it's online.

If we've received many photos of the same thing, we may not publish them all to avoid duplicates.

If you've shared a photo of your freebies, Amazon discounts from sites such as Vipon, price glitches etc., we may summarise them alongside those of other members.

Posts are not shared on the group in a first-come-first-serve basis. We seek to provide a mix of content so our members are not always seeing the same thing.

Other Deal Sites

Sometimes we do not accept links or mentions of other deal sites. This may be because they are competitors to Latest Deals, or because they have asked us not to mention them, or because they are on our naughty list for self-promotion, or many other reasons. These sites include but are not limited to:

  • Vipon
  • AMZReviews
  • JDeals
  • HotUKDeals
  • BlastMyDeals
  • JumpSend
  • Elite Deals
  • ... Anything similar

Negative Posts & Comments

Latest Deals is a positive community. We've seen first hand what happens to other groups and website when you allow negative people and feelings to foster. Any negative post and comment will be deleted and you may be banned. Positive, constructive feedback only.

'Greedy' Shaming

Again, we are a positive community encouraging deal hunting. Some bargain hunters love to get big hauls and to share their pictures. We want to be an open space where you are free to do this without fear of criticism. Negative criticism or 'greedy' shaming is not allowed and will result in an instant ban.

Naming & Shaming

The nature of deal hunting is that it operates in a morally grey area. Price glitches, freebies, coupon requests etc. The group aims to facilitate open discussion about such things without judgement. You're welcome to raise questions and share your point of view, but if any post names and shames specific members, has a negative standpoint e.g. You're all monsters! then your post will be deleted.

Donation Requests to Charity

Latest Deals has an official charity it supports which you can read about here. We are sorry that we are unable to help with any further charity requests, and politely ask that you do not ask other members for donations, nor post on any of our social media channels for donation requests. We wish you the best of luck on your fundraising efforts, and commend you on your campaign.

Private Messaging

Do not private message other members. If a member complains about you sending them a private message you will be immediately banned. Do not ask people to private message you. This is for your own safety and to maintain an enjoyable experience for all members.

Self Promotion & Referral Links

It's been mentioned above already, but let's say it again: Do not promote your own referral codes, links, blog posts, groups, products and services. To maintain quality and unbiased advice in the group we need to delete all such posts. You may be banned for doing this.

Banned Retailer

Companies sometimes reach out to members asking them to post deals in our group. This is not allowed. If they are found to do so all future posts about their deals are banned. Here is a list of naughty companies:

  • Andoer
  • Homgeek
  • Ammoon
  • Nux

If a company reaches out to you to promote a deal on our website or Facebook Group please tell us immediately - we may give you a nice points bonus as a thank you! 👍🏼

Who is an Admin in the Facebook Group?

You can see who the admins are by opening the group, navigating to "members" and at the top you'll see the names of admins and moderators. There will also be a badge next to their names every time they post.

⚠️ We may get it wrong - Post a query here ⚠️

Reviewing hundreds of posts a day is just a small team. It takes time and we may get it wrong. If you feel a post has been deleted by mistake, please contact us so we can investigate.

It says no self-promotion, but what if we have a sale on? I write books, and sometimes they get knocked down to 99p for a few days. Are we allowed to post those? Thanks!

Still self promotion isn't it? If someone else read your book or saw your deal and posted it then it's different

On our Facebook group, yes you can. Here on Latest Deals website, I’m afraid not — you can only expire deal, freebie and competition posts you publish.

If there is a particular deal post you would like deleted, for example if you’ve accidentally included personal information, you can contact us.

Hi Tom, my wife is currently running a sale with 25% off children's story books for #WorldBookDay and giving an extra bonus of additional colouring pictures for free with the purchase of the colouring and activity book associated with the series. The sale ends on 15th March 2019. Is this something I can post in the Facebook group?

Hi LloydWakelin this sounds like a great initiative and I wish your wife's book sale the best success. I'm afraid we don't accept self-promotion on any of our sites or social media channels and so wouldn't be able to accept this post. We also don't accept local events such as these. I'm sorry we won't be able to post it, and again thank you for your message.

i have 2 questions , it says you get points for adding people , I’ve added quite a few but not got any point s for it. What am I doing wrong ? As also commenting on deals and posts ?

I also I posted something which now says I’m a visual story teller , does that mean anything ? Do u get points for that ?

Hi Jane, LatestDeals has a website and a Facebook Group. Right now, you are reading this on the website.

You only receive points for actions on the website, not the Facebook Group.

You do not get points for inviting friends to the Facebook Group.

You do not get points for commenting on the Facebook Group.

You do not get points for being a Visual Storyteller on the Facebook Group.

You only get points for doing these things on our website. I hope that helps to explain.

Thanks for bringing this to the front for a while - it now makes more sense. (Posts are not shared on the group in a first-come-first-serve basis. We seek to provide a mix of content so our members are not always seeing the same thing.) Although I was never one of the complainers tbh I was miffed on a regular basis as my early morning deals/freebies didn't get shared and yet the same offers were shared early evening by other members. Sad but true that it made me lose a bit of interest in the fb pages.

belladixie2017 Click on the picture that accompanies the comp - this will bring up just the pic with the description to the right. You need to isolate it from the main page, if that makes sense. You then copy the url and paste it into the box when you share on this site. I am sure there will be somebody who would describe the process much better than me but I'm guessing you are struggling to get the correct url?

Hey Bellageorge5 🙂

I don't personally look after the Facebook group but just wanted to chip in to see if I could help.

Just a forewarning that this topic was created a while ago and needs to be updated - we now ask people to use the contact form to get in touch for support queries. That way we can handle everything in order.

However I do know that we get 100s of submissions for posts on the Facebook group so we unfortunately can only select a few to save everyone's newsfeeds from getting inundated.

May I recommend instead you share any great finds directly on this website? You can share things here: https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/share and, as long as it hasn't been shared already, will pop up on the site straight away. As a billy bonus you also get points for sharing on the website that you can then convert into Amazon vouchers.

I hope that's some help and if no-one comes to answer you specifically about the facebook group here please do send us a message via the contact form.

Thanks for being part of LD!

My comment gets removed because a member thinks I'm being sarcastic in her post about Home Bargains, yet you deem it acceptable for her to tell me to, how did she put it so eloquently? That's right, to get it right up me! Hypocrisy or what?

Hi MichaelBeck 🙂 I'm afraid I haven't personally handled or seen any of the comments in question but if you have a query about any moderation decision please do send us a message via our contact form so that we can investigate. The more information you can provide the better so that we can hopefully get to the bottom of it. We always try and be as fair and transparent as we can be so will certainly hold our hands up if it turns out we've made a mistake 👍
