Farmfoods - Hidden Treasure or Full of Unwanted Junk?

I know they have been around for a while, but the first impressions I had of them were they’re dated with a lot of stuff I was not interested in - a lot of junk food and short dated items. However, recently I’ve picked up some bargains that I’ve been pleased with, though not always consistently available, so you do need time to check it out
do you like shopping in Farmfoods?
I love Farmfoods, but don't have one anywhere nearby so haven't visited in a few years.
Used to visit Walthamstow specifically for Farmfoods.
Why the heck are there so many Aldis, make more Farmfoods!

I haven't been in farmfoods for years. Our one in town is right on the high street and there is no parking so hard to do a big shop there and carry it to the nearest car park. I never bought loads of stuff there anyway.
Farmfoods is ok for bulk buying items which are actually bargains and have a long use by date. Frozen fruit for making smoothies and icecream in the summer or tins of fizzy drinks for Christmas. I found items such as cherry cake could often be found cheaper elsewhere.
I love Farm foods but sadly dont have one nearby.I stumbled on one in Walthamstow the other day and was dleighted.
Farmfoods and Aldi are the closest supermarkets to my house they are next to each other in Yeovil, about a 8 minute walk from my house and on Fridays I often walk past Farmfoods and go in. They have some very good prices for some products compared to other supermarkets but not so great for others. I tend to go in and pick up a few items maybe a shop of £5-15. Like Iceland for their non-frozen products there is far too much branded goods which are expensive. You find ridiculously priced cereal in there by major brands like Kellogg's and Nestle rather than their own brand. So I would say it is impossible to do a full shop there if you are focused on value. Of course fresh products are incredibly limited anyway there. I put it in the same camp as Iceland, Lidl and Aldi in that I can only do a limited shop there as some products are not available, the quality is too poor or there are only high priced branded products for some types of items. Ultimately it is a limited range for various reasons of what I can buy there.
BonzoBanana my brother lives in Yeovil he says the same not many shops locally and the nearest town is a good bit away
Leannexxx We have all the supermarkets (including 2 Lidls) except Sainsburys and Waitrose and both those are available in nearby Sherborne which is only 5 miles away. So for supermarkets we are well catered for and we have the best Tesco I have ever been in. However for smaller shops in the high street many have closed now its rubbish. Lots of empty shops at the bottom of town. Taunton is quite good shopping and that is about 20-22 miles away if you are using the park and ride car park and that is decent shopping for smaller shops compared to Yeovil. Smaller shops have been taxed out of existence and still the government hasn't come up with any policies to restore the high street and put more tax onto online sellers.
BonzoBanana he doesn't drive so he's limited I told him loads of times to move back up where we are its cheaper than down there he was in hospital in Taunton messed him right up he had to be moved to Bristol
Leannexxx So where are you that its cheaper? I had a procedure in Taunton hospital and it was super efficient and very good but Taunton hospital is very large and I'm sure different departments vary in their skill and efficiency. I was generally impressed with my experience there. I was taken from Yeovil hospital to Taunton with another patient in an ambulance and they even put the sirens on despite not being an emergency when they hit a jam to make sure we got to our surgery appointments on time. Fantastic staff at both Yeovil and Taunton hospitals except for one doctor at Taunton who was a right misery and not friendly at all but still seemed to know exactly what he was doing though, which was the important thing.

Leannexxx I think rent is expensive almost everywhere nowadays. Down in the south west it is certainly not cheap. Yes not as expensive as inner London but still some very high prices if you are in the right areas or close to the beach. Lots of people have second homes in the south west which reduces house supply and of course has a knock of effect to house values and rent prices. Cornwall for example has low wages, seasonal jobs and high house prices.
We use farm foods, always lots of good offers in-store , I liked jack Fulton's but most stores have closed down
I used to love Farmfoods but there isnt one anywhere near me anymore. I use Iceland now but the closest is a good 20 minutes drive away. I still find it worth it though. I also remember the days when iceland used to sell fridges and freezers too !
One of my local shoos sells farm foods stuff. I like it. It'll be more expensive where I am but I like the fact I can take what I need.
I buy all our toilet rolls and kitchen paper there, in bulk, plus frozen veg etc. Shop there every other month. But like you said it depends what's in stock.
I can't say that I have ever shopped in Farmfoods, will have to take a look as see if we have one local.
I'm lucky enough to live near one and can find some great deals 
and also download vouchers to save cash. £5:off when you spend £60 £2.50;off when you spend £30 . I used to like NETO

I came across a Farmfoods recently on my travels. I was impressed with some of the prices but didnt realise I had to look at sell by dates. Most the products I did purchase were ok apart from a packet of biscuits which had a short date.
I think it’s a bit of both like all of these discount retailers. There is some bargains to be had but also there is a lot of tat and products that no one really wants.
I have found, as the cost of living crisis worsens, discount shops have become less fruitful
