Favourite Childhood TV Series
Ask a Question
What was your favourite childhood TV series?
I just remembered Step by Step, it was soo funny I loved it and Sabrina the Teenage Witch
blacklabrador I absolutely love Grange Hill but hated school. We did manage to track done the character Tommy Watson, actor Paul McCarty. He used to work at Bromley Market. We used to walk past the stall but never spoke to him, too shy.
Leannexxx I'm from near Newcastle, in my teens used to go to metroland at metrocenter alot at weekends. Once spent the afternoon there with the kid that played Noddy and his mate.
Was talking about this with my grandson in law yesterday. My faves were not children's programmes but adult ones as back then the content was far more innocent. I loved The Big Valley (Lee Majors), The Baron (Steve Forest), Rawhide (Clint Eastwood), The Champions, Dempsey and Makepeace, Starsky and Hutch etc. I wonder how many people reading this remember any of them. My 31yr old g-in-law had never heard of them.
Lynibis I am the same age as your grandson in law (turning 31 in a few days ) and I have never heard of them as well
Angelina004 I am not surprised, things come and go and of course programmes weren't as accessible back then, no recording or on demand. If you missed it that was it unless they showed repeats.
Lynibis I'll stand up and keep you company, I remember all of those programs. I used to watch Dixon of Dock Green as well.
Who remembers Arlene Phillips dancing with her group Hot Gossip on Top of The Pops many years ago?
mudgesheila50 nice to know I'm not alone lol. Didn't Sarah Brightman start in Hot Gossip, could be wrong but know it was someone who went on to greater fame?
Lynibis, yes, you're right she did, lol . Can you go as far back as Pan's People? Or is that a bit too far?
mudgesheila50 I certainly can. I am an early 50s babe and it's quite eerie to think it was less than a decade after the war.
My mum was very strict about bedtimes and even at weekends I had to go to bed in the middle of a film if it carried on past....that would be considered child cruelty today!
I could name a few, rainbow, crackerjack, grange hill, they can't make shoes like this anymore, they are classics
Happy days is one of my favourite series of all time. I wish they would bring it back onto tv
I used to love the cheesy 70s scifi shows plus stuff like Tiswas, Midnight Garden, Space Sentinels, the Banana Splitz. So many great shows from the past although I admit when you watch them today they have sadly dated quite badly but back then just having a TV with only 3 or 4 channels was amazing.
I loved Hey Arnold and Recess. I used to like Sabrina the Teenage Witch too. When I was really young I loved Bananas in Pyjamas and Rosie and Jim. So different to the programmes my 6 year old son watches now.
I used to like ‘Out of Town’ with Jack Hargreaves, a very gentle tv programme of a much simpler way of life.
Growing up my siblings & I were glued to Grange Hill,Byker Grove, Crackerjack too, loved Blue Peter & Why Don't You...
My siblings & our friends loved Music Programmes especially Top of the pops ...
Anything we could sing & dance to
I used to love “Rock Follies” with I think a Newcomer “Rula Lenscka “ don’t know how it is spelled think she went on to Marry Denis’s Waterman. I loved here hair , I was
So jealous. Mine was like a line pole . Dead Straight.
CarolNettle Stephanie Powers in Hart to Hart had hair like that too. I was also very envious of them both.
Loved Biker Grove and grange hill. Hated school though. Also loved blue Peter.
Loved dukes of hazard watched it recently for the giggles. Omg it's so inappropriate
Bagpuss, Trumpton, willow the wisp, adventure game, bod, Glen Michael's Cavalcade, there's loads
