blacklabrador I absolutely love Grange Hill but hated school. We did manage to track done the character Tommy Watson, actor Paul McCarty. He used to work at Bromley Market. We used to walk past the stall but never spoke to him, too shy.

Was talking about this with my grandson in law yesterday. My faves were not children's programmes but adult ones as back then the content was far more innocent. I loved The Big Valley (Lee Majors), The Baron (Steve Forest), Rawhide (Clint Eastwood), The Champions, Dempsey and Makepeace, Starsky and Hutch etc. I wonder how many people reading this remember any of them. My 31yr old g-in-law had never heard of them.

Lynibis I am the same age as your grandson in law (turning 31 in a few days 😅) and I have never heard of them as well 🙈😅

Angelina004 I am not surprised, things come and go and of course programmes weren't as accessible back then, no recording or on demand. If you missed it that was it unless they showed repeats.

Lynibis I'll stand up and keep you company, I remember all of those programs. I used to watch Dixon of Dock Green as well.

Who remembers Arlene Phillips dancing with her group Hot Gossip on Top of The Pops many years ago?

mudgesheila50 nice to know I'm not alone lol. Didn't Sarah Brightman start in Hot Gossip, could be wrong but know it was someone who went on to greater fame?

Lynibis, yes, you're right she did, lol . Can you go as far back as Pan's People? Or is that a bit too far? 🤣

mudgesheila50 I certainly can. I am an early 50s babe and it's quite eerie to think it was less than a decade after the war.

My mum was very strict about bedtimes and even at weekends I had to go to bed in the middle of a film if it carried on past....that would be considered child cruelty today!

I used to love the cheesy 70s scifi shows plus stuff like Tiswas, Midnight Garden, Space Sentinels, the Banana Splitz. So many great shows from the past although I admit when you watch them today they have sadly dated quite badly but back then just having a TV with only 3 or 4 channels was amazing.

I loved Hey Arnold and Recess. I used to like Sabrina the Teenage Witch too. When I was really young I loved Bananas in Pyjamas and Rosie and Jim. So different to the programmes my 6 year old son watches now.

MrsCraig they actually made a new hey Arnold film a few years ago because back in the day the series got cancelled before fans got a chance to find out what happened to Arnold’s parents.

Great show

I used to like ‘Out of Town’ with Jack Hargreaves, a very gentle tv programme of a much simpler way of life.
