Thought it would be nice if we could tell members about things going on in our area this summer, sharing info that others may not have otherwise heard about.
This is my first contribution: Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta 2023
Tuesday 15th – Friday 18th August 2023. The tall ships are back in Falmouth! For the first time in nine years, Falmouth will once again host the start of the prestigious Tall Ships Race, Magellan Elcano.
The Race start, preceded by a Parade of Sail will be on Friday 18th August, time TBC. The Tall Ships fleet will then follow a racecourse to A Coruna, from 24 to 27 August, Lisbon from 31 August to 3 September and Cadiz from 7 to 9 September.

Dogs are welcome at the event, but cannot enter the Food Hall (with the exception of assistance dogs) or falconry display area.

Re-enacting the epic Siege of Colchester in 1648, the English Civil War Society presents a wonderful free weekend of living history, pageantry and excitement across the city centre. Meet the protagonists, witness battles, explore the encampments, discover the truth behind the tall tales!

Colchester United's popular Summer Open Day returns for 2023 for a day of fun and football at the Jobserve Community Stadium
taking place on Sunday 16th July, the U's first team squad will be in attendance, hosting a training session on the pitch and then signing autographs and posing for photos. The U's chairman Robbie Cowling will also be on hand to answer all your Us related questions.
As well as the football, you find local exhibitors, stall holders, and refreshments providing a fun, inclusive atmosphere and a day out that can be enjoyed by all the family.
The Open Day will begin at 11am, and will run until 4pm.

The Tudor Fair at Layer Marney Tower is open from 11am until 5pm, with stalls, games, food and plenty of Characters. Watch as the Funeral Procession arrives from Tiptree at Layer Marney Church.
Join in all the fun of the Fair, climb the tower and enjoy the play area. There will be stalls, tents, games, armour and food. The highlight will be the arrival of the Funeral Procession at around 12.30 from Tiptree. Henry, 1st Lord Marney’s coffin will be drawn by six horses with his effigy on display, accompanied by Friends and relations, priests and monks and persons in his livery, as they make their way to the Church. After the Church service the Parade will make their way into the Courtyard along with the Carriage drawn by six horses.
It will be a sight to be seen.
