Damn, I sure hope that doesn't happen too often in the future...
Now imagine a cashless society where we rely on digital payments (that includes cards and the dreadful CBDC), when or if the system/electricity goes down you can't use it.
Having cash at home is a good idea.
PhilipMarc exactly. Tech is amazing but only when it works. When it fails it causes such chaos
I know I sound like a long playing record but nearly all these problems can directly or indirectly be traced back to over population and greed.
Companies offer a service, it succeeds, they grow, it succeeds and makes more money, customer base grows beyond the company's coping mechanism and things start to go wrong.
Instead of keeping their companies to a manageable level greed kicks in and before you know it......mayhem.
We see it all the time. Growing population but no extra doctors, police, social workers, nurses etc etc etc.
Glad I'm not for this world too much longer.
I go cruising a lot more and travel from Southampton, I find it so much less stressful and easier. Plus I can pack as much as I want which is a great bonus.
eyeballkerry ghats great but if you live in certain areas you have to fly to get anywhere away from it
Jerseydrew I was amazed on the last cruise I went on, how many people from Scotland. One family actually travelled from Scotland to Essex, where family were, then Essex to Southampton with an under 5 year old.
eyeballkerry I found lots of tech problems on our last cruise. You were supposed to be able to book your dinner table time but what a lot of hassle with it not working. So their improvements caused so many issues.
This is what can happen when a society relies so much on technology which can fail/be hacked
“Lessons will be learnt” I always avoid going abroad on August bank holiday as you usually guarantee something will go wrong. It’s been disgraceful how some of the airlines EasyJet in particular have been receiving lots of bad press have again treated their customers. They seem happy to take your money but seemed to think they then have no responsibility. As a customer it doesn’t matter who’s fault it is, which has made the issue happened them as the supplier need to resolve it and not just ignore their customers.
Good Morning Britain got two families on to flights by naming and shaming EasyJet which was good for those families but I felt sorry for the thousands of others still waiting for some contact.
Also if you’re going away please take more medicine than you need for the holiday, I couldn’t believe in these stories the families only took their prescription medication just for the week.
