Food Banks Highest Ever Handout Rates
Other
According to news this morning theres been 3.1 million parcels handed out in the last year. Apparently the highest number of those needing food parcels is the elderly. Its mad and not ok
I think it is disgusting that the UK is supposed to be a first world country. It has wealth but it belongs to a select few who could never spend that amount if they lived 10 times over. Meanwhile young and old alike are living in a Dickensian state, in bedsits, taking food parcels to survive or sleeping rough. It's time for CHANGE.
EmmaWright762 The first thing they should do is turn buckingham palace into a hostel for those in need , Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms. These include 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms
It is devastating that there are people in this situation. I see posts on our local fb community page about people struggling for food but they can't make a self referral to the food bank.
You've only to look on Facebook to see how many local people are struggling, shame on this government
I'm not far off from getting a free bus pass, l already go to a food bank twice a week, yet I am still working part time and saving as much as l can as with only the state pension to live on when l retire and no property as I am renting.. life stinks ..
Pinkspirit it saddens me to think you’re struggling. I hope you can apply for pension top ups to help you.
Pinkspirit this might help you to find out what’s available and if you can applyhttps://moneysavingexpert.entitledto.co.uk/home/start
Saw some bizarre crap walking down a street of London yesterday and it just showed how broken the city and the country are.
Tory or Labor... They're essentially both the same thing at this point.
It's madness the government want to do something it's 2024 no one should have to use food banks but the cost of living is madness we are seeing more people coming into hospital who have not been eating then it ends up costing the government more for treatment and people haveing to stay in hospital
It is sadly not surprising when the cost of living is so high but remember that this is just the tip of the iceberg where the troubles of the country are concerned... I am sure we could all write long lists of what needs to change to make things better.
tumblespots I 100% agree it's just the tip if the iceberg sadly. Just got to hope that the tories are voted out and Labour comes in and does a better job
Jerseydrew I don't think any of them are capable, they just want to score points off each other rather than making the country a good place to live and a place where everything works.
IT'S DISGRACEFUL THAT WE HAVE TO HAVE FOODBANKS IN GREAT BRITAIN !!!!... BUT WHEN PEOPLE VOTE IN A PIKITICAL PARTY. THAT ONKY THINK OF HOW MUCH THEY CAN SCAM FROM THE PUBLUC PURSE, AND GIVE PUBLIC FUNDS TO THEIR FRIENDS, IS TOTALLY UNFORGIVEABLE !!!!...
I will not be voting because it will be complete waste of my time. I hate them both and IF labour should come to power the food bank might not go down but might go up instead because Sir Keir Starmer is a typical middle-class lawyer who pretends to be classless.
