How Forgetful Are You?
Ask a Question
A few days ago I was still rating deals but for some reason I completely forgot to post deals lol
I was on here on the app a few times yet I didnโt think to do anything else!
I have like a routine to think things through of what to do like a mental list haha
My memory is quite good, though I have brain fog sometimes. Like when you walk into another room for something, forget, say to urself, what did I come in here for? It's quite common when ur going through the menopause.
I had to sign for a package and I totally forgot my name lol and a couple of weeks ago I forgot my youngest daughters name, it took 5 minutes to remember, I have high blood and suffer with brain fog because of it, so I put it down to that
Iโm doing ok so far. I get all 5 names of my cats right and all the names of my 11 grandkids right too. Although Iโm will occasionally walk into the kitchen and wonder what I wanted when i get there !!
suevernon1968 wow thatโs amazing!! Well done yeah Iโm the same too go to do something and then I forget too haha
kitty88uk but on a bad day- i will walk in the house and โneedโ a cup of tea. When i get the milk out I have left my car keys in the fridge!
I am so forgetful, l remember my school's name but none of my teachers, l cannot remember a single class or lesson, l don't remember anything from my childhood (like it has all been erased) l remember going on holiday's but every hotel & beach are all jumbled up, l cannot remember what day it is or even what l ate the day before...l feel like every day is the same, Not like starting a new, but groundhog. .but then again l was born on the 2nd of February...l hate existing like this but plod on regardless
Pinkspirit oh Iโm sorry to hear that! Iโm the same donโt remember much from when I was a kid and high school thank goodness haha cause those were boring old days for me
Pinkspirit, I say everyday is like groundhog day for me too, so ur not on ur own. Do you ever try online memory apps? Like pairing cards, or trying to look for things in a room? They r good for brain activity, helps jog ur memory, even when u think it's got nothing to do with it. I play an online app, Seekers notes hidden mystery. It's free to download, starts off easy, ur shown what to do etc, take it at ur own pace. There's rewards in it, u chat to people also playing in it. Very interesting and addictive n fun, but most of all, relieves boredom from groundhog day lol.
Leannexxx I've got brain fog from having long Covid, I forget lots of things, especially when someone asks me a question, simple things, dates, times, taking my meds on time, etc.
I have basic brainfog sometimes - usually when I've done something but don't remember I have so start doing it again until I realise... I'm ahead of myself
kitty88uk totally agree, l always prefer to look forward rather than dwell on the past, its happened and l cannot change it good or bad
I'm the opposite, a walking talking Calendar, I remember most things,a few get past me but not many!
Only yesterday my partner asked me if I could remember his mobile No. I couldn't but yet I could remember my first boyfriend 's address & phone no. from 1988!!
janphoenix51 lmao thatโs crazy you remember from all those years and all those details haha he must have been very important to you to still remember to this day!
kitty88uk ,We stayed friends as we hung around in the same crowd even after I met my current partner..Ex bf always introduced his gf to me & & we would jokingly gang up on him,he could take it,he stopped going out with us & my partner & I stopped going out as we had a young daughter ..
I kept in touch with ex's Mum for 20 years, she used to visit on odd occasion, always sent my Birthday & Christmas cards with Scratch Cards & a letter updating me on her family & I always did the same back...x
Daughter has a brilliant memory, takes after me not her Da on that, she remember everything!!
I hope we will always be like this...
Daughter's nickname from her year 6 teacher at Primary School was "The Oracle" & her friends at Collage called her "Google"!!
Funny thing is there are a few days between her's & Google's birthday!!
kitty88uk ,I have an excellent memory mostly but she can tell me a few things that I have forgotten, jog my memory, then I remember them & go into details with her!
janphoenix51 thatโs amazing how you can remember so many things! I canโt remember my high school days much lol
Kitty88uk...I once named almost everyone in my year group on our Secondary School Website, not bad to say I left School over 40 odd years ago!!
I canโt always remember words. Iโm beginning to feel unsettled by it as it happens more and more.
Pjran, I think most people are like that, especially when ur talking to somebody and it happens. But if ur own and start thinking of it, usually I find the words come to u. They say if you don't know the right words to a song u never will. Yet for dementia suffers, they have started choirs etc, as apparently singing is good for dementia. Ironic
nadinegregg70 ,Yes it's true,I used to be a Caregiver to an ex Pub Landlady 5 minutes from where I live.
I had known this lovely lady for years to say hello to,she was a really friendly person & well known to everyone in our area in Sheffield as she was from Sunderland up in the North East.
The lady couldn't remember most things but put Neil Diamond on & she would sing along, knowing all the words, her face would light up in a fabulous smile too..
I loved working with that lady, she was a joy,it was hard sometimes but we always had some laughs together..
On a day to day basis I am pretty good. I do like to write lists for the day ahead. I tend to forgot dates of things especially from the past.
eyeballkerry thatโs good to note things down
I used to make lists too canโt even remember when I stopped doing that lol
kitty88uk I have a diary which I use everyday and the family add all their appointments in it as well. With a husband, four children and my mother, I canโt remember it all.
eyeballkerry thatโs very good to take notes nowadays people just use their phones a lot!
I left my brother's house one day a few years ago . As I drove down the road I thought I'd left my mobile phone behind so I pulled over and picked my mobile phone up from the passenger seat and phoned him. " Hi John, I've left my mobile at yours and I'm popping back to collect it". He went silent for a few seconds and then said" You're calling me from it!" I think I was having some kind of busy & stressful day!
Binny61 lol funny story! sorry for laughing if that day was stressful for you.. ah my mum is the same looking for car keys one day she couldnโt find them after looking everywhere yet my sister found them in her coat pocket! it was right in the middle of bottom of coat as it had slipped through the hole lmao
Binny61 that reminds me of when you're looking for your glasses and they are on your head
Paulyousef28 yes Iโm the same have a good memory but I canโt remember things from years ago
Just yesterday I came across a song and artist that I liked and listened to many times many years ago and I completely forgot about them until now!!
kitty88uk taiking about a song.
Am trying to find a female song I have heard a few times recently and can't find the name of this song online.
If anyone knows.
The song is do you see me crying do you see when your gone.
It's Quite an old song I have heard in heartbeat and the royal TV show drama.
Anyone knows
I forget things all the time unless I write it on the calendar. I used to like doing a pub quiz. I forget what day it is etc. I have mental health issues due to my abusive husband. It has left me feeling anxious when I go out.I have to take a list with me to remind me what I have to get etc.
hillmary615 Anxiety is an awful thing. It goes hand in hand with depression too. I hope that it all settles down for you. Nobody deserves ill treatment. Bless you x
