it’s chestnut season! Not sure if anyone forages those, but I know people who do
what do you do with your chestnuts? Mine just get boiled and seasoned to snack on
My tree in the garden is laden this year - think I will be collecting for ages! I boil and shell them then open freeze before putting in a container so I can take out what I need rather than a big frozen lump. Use in nut roasts (no I'm not a veggie), stuffings, pate etc, Also puree some with cream and use to stick chocolate meringues together - delicious! Never thought of seasoning and snacking - do you dry fry them with the seasoning on?
Yes just a quick blast in the wok to get the smoky flavours out and then they’re ready to eat. Glad to hear that they are in plentiful supply this year 
I've never like chestnuts. But grandad use to put chestnuts in the open fire. Then he had hot chestnuts. Around Christmas time in towns they uses to be people selling hot chestnuts.
Lol definitely a treat famously known for the Xmas season. I don’t see as many chestnut sellers these days, but the smell would often help create the xmas spirit
Nowadays about 5 in a bag for a £1or more. When I was a kid big bag full for 6pence!
