Freebie and Competition Success!!!
In the News
I thought it might be a nice idea to share our recent finds and discuss these on Chat. Whether it be a fab freebie or a spectacular win (or maybe it's just me being super nosey so you can tell me to take a long jump!) I thought it would be fun to report what we've been receiving.
And those of you that are 'Super Hunters' you might like to share some tips.
What do you think? Worthwhile topic or naff?
Thanks for posting this! Such a great idea. Well my first freebie of the day was the Millie's cookie! Thank you sarahwalmley for posting that one Headed to the shop today and showed my O2 Priority and got it.
Over the last couple of weeks I've also been enjoying free calisthenics parks across London They're monkey bars for adults, where you can do exercises for free. There's something called The BAR Movement (it goes by other names) where people get together and exercise as a group - all free, and just good fun.
clareemckenzie r.e. Photos, it's in Kelsey (our tech whizz) pipeline to enable you to upload photos into comments.
Hi Clare - this is great idea! Thanks for arranging it with Tom! I usually get around 3-4 Freebies that I apply from the LD Freebies page and also from Latest Free Stuff's FB page. I shall post my pics here too.
Today I received the YSL Opium perfume and was so disappointed as the perfume vial was half empty! At first I thought it had leaked in the envelope, but it didn't smell of anything. Have tweeted YSL about it, lets see if they reply!
So gutted, really wanted to try it as well, but I won't now incase it's a used one! :(
I got one as well and it was like that and I know a few other people had said theirs was half full too. Think that was just the way they were unfortunately.
I think they just come like that sometimes it's not necessarily like a normal product you buy where you expect the bottle/packaging to be full but it's just a small amount in a small container as it's free, it's just supposed to be enough to try
Optimum idea! This would allow others to see if freebies and competitions were actually legit or just companies selling the users data.
OK. This feels like therapy for me. I've been freebie finding for 6 years and yes... I am an addict (applause please and general nodding). It started when I was between marketing contracts just to pass the time and I carried it on.
Looking back, most of the freebies (and yes I keep a spreadsheet and I have from time to time run pivot tables to analyse results!) have been beauty and perfume products. I also write for a number of websites, testing and reviewing products, which is fab as I often receive products before they reach the general public.
From competitions I have won all sorts including Amazon vouchers, cash, tickets to events, champagne, restaurant vouchers, wine, books and an elusive Hatchimal from a prize draw before Christmas. I am still hoping for the mega holiday win. Hence the amount of travel comps I post.
I try to accrue Amazon vouchers so that I can buy presents for my family and friends throughout the year. I achieve this by completing surveys and taking part in online focus group projects. It's all timely so activity dips when I am busy.
So far this year has been steady. I have mainly been building up my Amazon vouchers again (I spent most of my previous stash on Christmas presents). Also, I have received various beauty products such as Olay Regenerist moisturiser and some new John Frieda Shampoo and conditioner that I have been road testing. Last week I received the Black Opium perfume sample from YSL too.
It's a great hobby and you get to try out stuff for free. What's not to love?!
"I am an addict (applause please and general nodding)" haha so true! Deepak's written a book on freebie hunting. I'm amazed by the idea of analysing your freebie results with pivot tables in Excel. Did you find anything that highlighted the most productive efforts? i.e. freebies / comps you should go for that get the best results?
My dream (cough Kelsey cough ) would be to create a tool that automatically applies for all the freebies. I sign up with all my details - you know, name, address, dob, email bla bla bla - then it goes freebie hunting for me. Sit back and let the freebies roll in! How good would that be?!
My best freebie haul, which I'm still getting through 5 months later, was a crate of wine from M&S. Actually it was a price glitch and I had to pay £3 delivery, but it tastes free
Great stuff, some people complaint that they never win anything, or those that do are just born lucky. But like everything, you get out what you put in, it is all a numbers game, stick yourself in more often than most then you will have a better chance than most of getting some wins.
Myself, I never win anything, but then again, I hardly enter anything, other than my local pub, and that to me is a winner every time.
Hello, Thank you for sharing your ideas and hobbies ... I have been so unlucky over the past 12 months but still keep trying! I wanted to ask you about the testing and reviewing - how do you know which offers are genuine?
Penny36 Take a look at this chat thread I posted. It may help you get started. https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/list-survey-websites
Penny36 Good luck. It's great if you have the time. I probably do about 1 hour a day to keep on top of it. a bit more at the weekends. bzz Agent, Insiders and Values Opinions offer products for review from time to time. Just choose the ones you like best and stick with those. It's quite a task to be loyal to all of them. I am also liking Branded Surveys (pays out to PayPal). And Toluna. I seem to collect points easily on this site and I swap these in for Costa Coffee gift cards.
antonygregory I didn't notice more spam in my spam mailbox than usually. Most of the time when you enter competitions they ask for your email. It's good to have a separate one. About the calls... well... nothing as far. Simply enjoy. You never know ;)
Tom well I can’t believe you have not finished your wine!
I buy my favourite wine when it’s on offer at a good price and although it’s not a wine that improves with laying it down I have amassed at least a couple of dozen plus at least three dozen of various bottles including champagne. My family and friends laugh at my stocks. Fortunately, or unfortunately some might say, my best friend enjoys the same brand so I offer her a glass instead of a cuppa sometimes.
My husband doesn’t like Sauvignon Blanc so I don’t even have to share it with him.
Developer job to design this tool. Love the idea though and this post was 2 years ago...lol. Did you manage to get anywhere with this? If not maybe I should have a go
antonygregory yes I do now going to set up a separate email account for this kind of thing
antonygregory this is why I never enter anything or apply for freebies ? Be interesting to see if anyone answers you? X
MandeeMayson I have been freebie-hunting for many, many years and I do not really get much spam. I have another email account for freebies and competitions. But on the whole, I use my normal email account for companies that I have a relationship with and subscribe to their news. Never really had any problem at all.
Anything that takes the edge off after a day at the office is always welcome. Always tastes better if you get a deal or a quality product win. Remember just because something is free, it's not always great! I go by the mantra it's quality not quantity ;)
In terms of what has been the most successful for me for winning cash it has to be the GFK survey site. I have been entering their prize draw and managed to accrue over £200 in 4 months. I also take part in lots of surveys and accrue Amazon vouchers through Ipsos Mori and Valued Opinions. These are the best sites in my humble opinion.
Freebies... well there are so many places that I pull these in from. Having a quick look at the results I would say Offer Oasis and LFS are the sites to monitor. But also sign up to your favourite brand's newsletters as often special offers and freebies are promoted through these.
To put some financial context around this, I have managed to achieve over £7,000 worth of cash, products and experiences since I began in January 2011. But that's not the key reason I do this. My best advice is to only enter what you really want and what you will really benefit from.
I am glad I am not the only one keeping spreadsheets! I dont so much with competition entries but all my online points with various survey companies all get logged in. Managed over £1500 since Jan 2015
Never won anything GFK I enter the tv sirvay everyday getting feed up with the prize draws would be better if you could put all them points in to buying a gift
didbygraham Me too, I keep a spreadsheet saying when I entered where I found the comp, prize details, closing date etc. I feel it is really useful so that I don't enter the same one twice!
i am not really a winner so to speak lol dont really enter comps but am trying to win a prize at the mo on facebook its a effort thing so not many doing it so all keep ya fingers and toes crossed for me please and i will keep u posted ha ha
Yes, I quite like the comps where you have to write an entry as it least shows that you have put in some effort. Less people enter too of course. Good luck!
What a wonderful idea for a thread. Guess we'll all eventually be able to post pictures on LD. I'm sure everyone will love seeing all the freebies we get
Well you know by now that I am partial to a LFS freebie photo. Just thought it would be a great idea for the community to share their latest goodies on this site too. I have a few ideas bubbling...
clareemckenzie It's a brilliant idea. Hopefully we can bring all your ideas to life
Great post!
I won £30 Nandos vouchers on Saturday from winadinner.com and they confirmed yesterday that they are in the post
Nice one, run by the same guy who does the FPL, great sites he does. Nice win, I have just signed up to the free dinner one as it never took my fancy prior but may as well, I check the FLP and Freemojii one daily so why not this one, only takes 5 mins a day.
