The air turned blue after a newcomer leased a property in St Ives and decided to paint the building a dark blue
The other residents are angry as firstly it is in a conservation area, secondly it was done sneakily overnight with no planning permission , thirdly the person is only renting the property on a lease and finally the colour is a deep blue and not white or beige to fit in with the decor of the rest of the town
Personally i think it looks better than the bland white it was before
Its a bit ironic one of the residents complaining more owns a surfing shop close by called Wind An Sea , maybe he is jealous he did not get there first with the colour ideal for his business

A bit of a trivial thing to get worked up about. It's not that unusual to find colourful buildings around the UK coastline.
Next Mr Blueberry might paint this property he is renting....BLUEBERRY!!
In Sheffield at Ecclesfield on the way to Barnsley,there is a house,the front & all the surrounding houses on that block are a traditional grey black colour,the side if the house is a SEASIDE BLUE.
You can see it as you walk down the hill & in the distance you can see green fields..
I don't often disagree with you Tel but I think it looks disgusting, far too dark and dingy. A pale sky or powder blue would have been a better choice. Imagine if a whole row were painted that colour, it would be depressing.
MelissaLee1 Its a good job it wasn't my house M, my favourite colour is deep purple, as well as one of my favourite rock bands in my younger days

I do think it’s bad when people go to an area and don’t stick to the aesthetic that the locals like but that blue doesn’t seem too bad to me.
Still if it’s only a lease I can’t imagine they will be keeping it blue for long n
I don't mind the colour myself and actually think more varied colours makes buildings more interesting but if there are local regulations to maintain a certain colour so be it, it needs to go back to what it was before. An extra coat of paint won't do the building any harm either especially in salty sea air.

This is at Ecclesfield, Sheffield & as you can see DOESN'T blend in with the rest of the properties on that side of the road!!
My service users use it as a marker that they are near Morrisons when we are walking down!!
