Furniture Paint (Wood Tables) to Rival Annie Sloan

Hi there, I have been advised that Annie Sloan chalk paint is the paint to use for my upcycling project which involves several wooden tables. I have checked the prices and they are SO high. I wondered if anyone had found any cheaper alternatives, or if it really is worth the money?

Water down the Annie Sloane before applying. You get a better finish with several thinner coats than one thick application. Don’t forget the wax.
