Giant Kinder Egg
Help
Hi everyone! 🖑
This year for Christmas, I want to make my own kinder egg surprise for my kids
I'm wondering if anyone has ever made these themselves? I've been going to the works, asda, Tesco, Poundland etc to get little bits and bobs to put into it. However, I'm stuck on where to buy the giant plastic eggs from. They're at least £6/£7 each on eBay. I've got 4 kids so that would work out too expensive!
Any other tips or offers would be greatly appreciated ❤
I personally would get massive balloons, lots of newspaper and pva glue.
And stick it all to the balloon but leave a gap to pop the treats in.
Once dry pop the balloon.. Paint the cast fill then fill the hole with more paper and glue
This seems like a really good idea. I'll have a look on YouTube. There must be loads of videos on 'How to thank you so much for that
I remember seeing on Pinterest lots of people making paper mache eggs using giant 3ft balloons bought from EBay. You make them like normal paper mache, paint your design then cut a hatch in the back to pop in all your surprises inside. They look fab but as you have 4 to do you may need to enlist some help as you would need somewhere to stash them until Christmas. I think they're a brilliant idea
How did i not think to have a look on Pinterest lol I might have a go at trying to make my own. I do love a challenge. I'll post pics if I do. Thank you for you xx
SoniaRani I'd love to see pics of you do If you got a little production line going you could add a few layers a day to them and I reckon you could get them done in a week or two. Your kids would love them! When they're wrapped in cellophane they look very professional too. Good luck
Hi Sonia,
Ooooh...I love a challenge like this. But I could easily spend all day looking!
I saw some on eBay for £3.95
Giant Large 20cm Fillable Easter Egg Two Part Surprise Egg Hunt Choose Colours
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282854629800
Your idea also made me start thinking about Nesting Russian Dolls, which led me to these cute measuring cups on Amazon (£9.33 for 3)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fred-Friends-MCUP-M-CUPS-Measuring/dp/B00APXEDAK/ref=sr_1_6
and maybe you could search Amazon for 'Santa Nesting Dolls'...instead of eggs.
Anyway - have lots of fun. Good luck!
Johnny
Thank you so much johnny!!!
The eggs are exactly what I'm looking for however they're £3.95 each PLUS £3.30 postage making them £7.25 each
I might just search for the dolls as that's a good idea too or make my own. But thank you so much for having a look ❤
Hi SoniaRani
You're welcome. I think if you bought 4 eggs in one order the postage for all 4 eggs would still be £3.30.
You could probably ask the eBay seller to give you assorted colours if you wish.
Items (4) £15.80
Postage £3.30
Order total £19.10
It's still rather expensive though, isn't it?!
It is
That probably cost more than the contents worth! I think I'll have a go at making my own if not, I'll try the dolls or Christmas boxes.
Next year Easter, I'll have a look out for them and keep hold of them lol
Yes it's costly this year but next year it will be nothing. That's supposing you are going to repeat the process and start a new family tradition. I would take the hit and go for it. It will make memories
I'm going to attempt to make them this weekend. I did however pop into card factory today and saw some lovely Christmas boxes for £1.99 so I have bought them for back up purposes!
