Was going out for Christmas Dinner worth it?
I've heard quite a few people saying they spent up to £100 a head and found the food or service lacking or disastrous with things under or over cooked.
I definitely wouldn't go out for Christmas Dinner. I did have breaded mushrooms on Christmas eve in pub but rather Christmas day at home
SamGoodship next year probably working Christmas day but would have to be customisable and cheap
We went out a some years ago on Christmas day for a curry thought it was brilliant we all had a laugh and it wasn't to expensive wouldn't do it now tho
We’ve not dined out Christmas Day but some friends have and it’s put us off. They’ve not had a particularly good lunch, warm food and bad cooking. They meet parents half way, so a 2 hour drive each way for both couples paying extortionate prices.
It would never be my choice to have Christmas dinner at a restaurant unless I was away on holiday. I am not keen on Christmas dinner or roast dinners so would never pay for one.
Took advantage of the Groupon Toby Carvery offer for my birthday around 12 December. It was ok and what I expected. I don’t think you can ever beat your own home roast dinner though so would never do it on Christmas Day unless I was away for some reason. Don’t get me started on the prices! Omg .
We went out for Christmas lunch this year and it was fab. Glass of fizz on arrival, starter , mains, pud , spirit then mince pies and coffee. Table laid beautifully. Tones of food piping hot , no complaints for us. Would definitely do it again
sallylester1 would you mind sharing where that was and how much it cost per person. Last two years we paid around £80 a head and was disappointed so ate at home this year.
aeje1982 Yes no problem. It's a pub called the four point's at Aldworth and it was £85 per person
sallylester1 that sounds like you got a lot for your money and was good value for eating out on Christmas day.
I went out once years ago but never again and wouldn't want to pay the prices that are being charged either. I admire people though that give up their Christmas Day for others pleasure.
Ive never been out for Christmas dinner because of the massively inflated prices. Also they seem to pack people in so it’s always a bit squashed which i don’t want to feel when eating my Christmas meal
I’d never choose to dine out on Xmas day. I enjoy cooking, and you could feed 10 people for what it costs per head in some places. A lovely treat but not for me. Also it would be nice if the staff got to enjoy Christmas also
I've never eaten out on Christmas Day, it's expensive and I think that the staff should be at home so that they can enjoy Christmas as well.
