GoPuff, Getir and Gorillas Grocery Apps - Are They worth It?
Money Saving
I have used all 3 grocery apps and here is what I have personally fount:
Number 1 - GoPuff, this is very good, they had an amazing 75% off sale and I bought so many branded items for such a great price! Things that you wouldn't expect to be cheap like almonds, goji berries, olive oil, branded cereals, branded toothpaste and soaps, really really cheap! Secondly, they have a free daily spin wheel where you accumulate points and sometimes you get £5 off £20 and £5 off 25, free delivery. I recently bought £33 worth of groceries for just £10! I definitely recommend it to save money and they have the widest selection of items. Normal delivery is around £1.79
Getir - initially signed up to this and 5 of my first deliveries all came for free, they have really good promo like spend £13 get £11 off - paid £2 + free delivery or spend £15 get £10 off, they also had a 'free this week' section. I got soooo many freebies and it's worth using it when they have the above promo's available, otherwise their delivery can be up to £2.99, so not as good as GoPuff.
Gorillas - this is probably my least favourite and only used it twice. First time users get £10 a £10 spend and I just paid £1.80 for delivery, not sure if their rules have changed now, they send you offers via email now again to spend £20 get £10 off, however their selection isn't that great.
I recommend people to use these apps ONLY when they have offers, sales, free delivery available otherwise you are spending a lot more. Hope this helps people save money.
Hey lovelyjubblymum thanks for this chat post - some great insights!
These all launched in my area at pretty much the same time and I'm sure they were all competing with each other. Lots have now seemingly shut down. Getir is still going but frustratingly I'm no longer in their delivery area (despite getting lots of notifications about offers like £10 off!)
I’ve used GoPuff recently as I used someone’s referral code for £10 off, then I won the fam freebie and £5 off in the daily spin. Like you I got loads of things in the sale so my first order was super cheap!
I’ve found the service to be super quick, as the hub is only 1.5 miles from my house.
I like the extra freebies you can get with the rewards.
Gorillas' prices aren't bad, but I just figured it'd be a better deal for me to do a bigger monthly order over £40+ at Sainsbury's and pay only £1 to have it delivered.
These services are good when you want it asap.
Edit 1:45PM - It's a bit like Ocado's £20 discount, the £20 off is great, but the prices of the items are expensive so you're not actually saving much or at all.
PhilipMarc I was thinking the same with Ocado to buy with the discount, but definitely, like you said even with the discount their prices are very high.
I tried getir once and it went well, probably better than I expected. I only went for it because of a special offer and forgot something on my main shop. I still have it installed and get constant offers but don't need it (unless I forget something again!)
I used GoPuff recently as they gave me a promotion and I really like it - I'm also considering signing up to Fam their rewards subscription/programme as I think I will probably use it instead of Ubereats now which I used to use sometimes for groceries
