Who the Funniest Comedian of All Time?
Other
Maybe Robin Williams or Bill Hicks? Perhaps Richard Pryor or Seinfeld?
I just had a heated debate at the gym about just who is the funniest stand up comedian ever and now I just dont know. Any thoughts?
Comedy is subjective. What one person finds funny another might not. I love Kevin Bridges, Patrick Kielty and Peter Kay, but there will be plenty of people who think they aren't funny.
MrsCraig Totally agree with you. I like the old stuff Jim Davidson, Bobby Davro and the new stuff would definitely be Sarah Millican, not many good women comedians in my opinion.
I liked Jim Davidson, but there's so many, unlike today's comedians who aren't funny at all, apart from Jimmy carr
I never found Robin Williams funny. I thought Dave Allen used to be brilliant in the past but I didn't find all his humour funny. Dave Chappelle can be very good at times. To be honest even the comedians I find funny I don't like all their humour but I guess maybe for the better comedians for me maybe two thirds of their humour I enjoy. Lots of comedians I never find funny at all and have to switch over. Must be so difficult to write something that most people will laugh at. I also think you can be regionally selective in that comedians from your own area seem a bit better because you relate to them more and I think relating to the comedians does help. I think I relate more to Bill Bailey or Jethro as they are from my area in the South West.
Melissa McCarthy
... Just kidding.
It'd either be Jim Carrey, John Candy (RIP), Robin Williams (RIP), or Chris Farley (RIP).
I’m a fan of Stewart Lee and Lee Evans always used to make me laugh. Not the biggest stand up comedy fan overall though.
Got to be billy connolly for me . Peter Kay a close second there was an Irish comedian Brendan grace not sure if he was known In the uk he was brilliant
I thought Tommy Cooper was absolutely hilarious, and a close second would be Jimmy Cricket.
I've seen quite a few stand ups live, but to me, the best by far was the late, great Sean Lock. So missed.
My personal favourite is Ricky Gervais. I am not sure I would ever have a heated debate about it as humans like different things. I also like Peter Kay as I like that he is 'clean' so there you go, polar opposites but I like them both.
I enjoy Frank Skinner, Peter Kay and Dave Gorman.
I saw Ricky Gervais live a few years back, and although I liked it I prefer him in TV comedies.
Bill Bailey and Milton Jones are probably my favourites and among the few comedians that seem to come to Plymouth where we are very poorly served by comedy venues.
