Grimsby Bike Warnings

In the News

This hasn't happened in London..er Yet! but I have just read that In Grimsby they are trialing giving out warnings over the town's PA system every 15 minutes .Reminding people that there is a £100 fine for breaking the rules. Can't walk down the street here in London most days without some pavement cyclist coming at yer.Seems that there are quite a few rule breakers in Grimsby as well.

And how they will catch them to fine them? There’s no requirement to carry ID or show ID, or even stop…they will just ride off (I know london well, and offenders are serial offenders)

They should keep this quiet before the bike thieves of the UK get to find out they have too many bikes. The bike thieves have been causing havoc in many towns, Ely in Cambridge is diabolical.

In a large pedestrianised area surely there is enough room for people and bikes its more about the speed, perhaps a 8mph limit and bikes should be confiscated for those who go above that lets say 15mph. I've watched many gig economy riders on youtube and they all seem pretty logical to me, when its open and empty they ride fast, when there are people they ride slower and when its really busy they get off and push the bike. There are lots of small paths that have mixed walker/cyclist use all over the country those at face value seem more dangerous but you rarely hear of incidents. Japan allows a lot of shared use and again its about cyclists behaviour rather than the cycle itself, those that respect the safety of others and those that don't.
