Hand Washing Clothes

Ask a Question

Does anyone like to hand wash clothes? I sometimes still hand wash clothes when I see that it’s going to be sunny ☀️ or windy 🌬

It does take some effort and muscle strength 💪🏻 to wring out the water 💦 lol 😝 but I feel so great 😄 when the clothes 🧺 are all dry! 🥳

A useful tip is to remember to reverse the clothes to the other side a few hours later!

Nope, if it doesn't go in the washing machine or the dish washer it's not for me. Very very rarely do I hand wash items on holiday if there is an urgent need and there is no laundry nearby.

Auntielettie yes it’s a hassle to soak them with liquid detergent and rinse through cause it creates so much bubbles lol only do with when there’s stubborn stains

No, not a chance of hand washing anything when there is a washing machine to use

My husband hand washes his running gear after returning home in a gentle soap liquid. He says the biological powder I use in the washing machine is too harsh, so he does it himself 😊

Pjran I see that’s good of him to wash items himself haha 😆 what does he mean by harsh? It damages the clothes?

kitty88uk he thinks so but I’m happy for him to continue washing them himself rather than having damp sports gear in the laundry basket.

Not quite so much these days but I have done in the past many times. I may hand wash something new if I want to be extra careful with it and pop it in the machine for a gentle spin.

HEDGEHOGS I see I know what you mean with clothes that are to be careful of, there’s delicate bags you can buy for them! I got a pack of two from Morrisons a while back ones really big long rectangle shaped another is like a small pouch for £2, not sure if the price has gone up now

In fine weather, yes. When I can't make up a load of delicate but after rinsing I just hang in garden without wringing them out and they then don't need ironing.

I only hand wash delicate items, which I don’t have many off. But when I am on a cruise holiday I always hand wash my ’smalls’. They dry really quick on the balcony.

If I don’t have many items to wash, it’s quicker to hand wash and get it over with. Or if I have more delicate items, I’ll hand wash. You get used to it

kitty88uk I just need the wind and sun - I prefer drying outdoors, although I do have a dehumidifier that helps when drying indoors

hspexy that sounds good! We just have a patio and it gets really hot 🥵 in there during the summer! Cannot be in there for more than 5 minutes lol

So I’d clothes are still damp hang them there otherwise I’m dryer

But yes I agree with you prefer the sun and wind helps to dry clothes much faster
