Sounds like you are having a laugh but seems like it’s a real thing which I think is very sad. My daughter has recently written a song about a universe where we have no phones and we actually see each again. The lyrics are amazing.
telmel She is extremely talented when it comes to music, she taught herself to play drums, the guitar, ukulele and now the piano. She writes the songs and adds all the instruments plus sings.
eyeballkerry Blimey, she's a one man band E, or woman in this case , she should go on a talent show with all those skills
I've heard of it can't remember when tho mental health is really bad and in all honesty I'm not sure what can be done about it
I have been on retreats in monasteries.I have seen youngsters close to breakdown within less than 24 hours without their phones.Seems that they're more addictive than crack cocaine to some.No kidding.
MelissaLee1 I can well believe it M , even adults are addicted, plus you now need a mobile for banking , paying parking , shopping in some cases , etc etc, so even if you want to break free of the phone you are given no choice but to have one
I can relate I feel naked without my phone. I have problems with short term memory so rely on phone and my trusted note pad to remember things for me.
I rarely use social media with the exception of WhatsApp
The amount of times I tell pupils to put their phones away in class I genuinely think that they are addicted to them!
I think this is just one leaf on a whole tree so to speak of anxiety problems. Anxiety is the modern word for worrying. If we give something a name it becomes real today and then we pigeon hole ourselves as to either having or not having it. Is it possible that some may even attach themselves to new concepts of health as a way of belonging to specific groups? Personally I just identify as 'gasbag' lol
