What are Some Unique Housewarming Gift Ideas for a Couple in Their 50s?
Ask a Question
Some relatives of mine (couple in 50s) are moving house. They have most things from previous place. They are having housewarming bbq later in summer. I’m thinking of small token, nothing too pricey. They are not plant people. Any ideas? Thank you.
Cant think of much considering they have most things from their previous place. Take them out for a meal or maybe a gift card or a couple bottles of Prosecco.
A matching apron set for when they have the bbq, or maybe a bbq tool set or gift set of bbq marinades and sauces? Not a good idea but as they have their home I can't think of anything original!
You can get many things personalised these days - even bottles of Prosecco. Ive made a couple of people clocks. Print a nice picture stick it to some plywood or something similar- cut around the picture so you don’t have any blank bits - and the clock mechanisms are cheap as are the clock numbers. Dont get me wrong I’m not artistic in the slightest- but they say everyone comments on it. And it’s something they wont already have xx
If it was me, I would bake them a cake, if you make cakes regularly (so you are used to making them) you could make it in the shape of a house & ice it accordingly.
Like you say they probably have most things they need. I would have suggested an outdoor plant, one that basically looks after itself if they have a garden. Maybe a solar light/ feature if they have a garden. Vouchers are a good idea but are not personal. Candles are nice as they don’t last forever so dont add clutter. I have purchased an aerial view of a friends home and framed it for them, they appreciated that and only took up a bit a wall space in the hall.
JLouM At the time someone was going door to door doing it. Not sure now, but I guess someone online could still be doing it. Sorry, can not be more helpful. Do you know anyone with a drone, much cheaper then.
JLouM Oh, that’s a shame. My daughter has one, maybe she could start up her own business if this is not happening anymore.
Like you say they will most probably have everthing they need, so how about a cream tea/dining out voucher?
Maybe a box of chocolates? Or take out gift card? Something like that you know they would use
